SAS troops among hundreds of special forces being secretly airlifted out of Syria

They were encircled by opposing sides after President Trump’s “troops out” decision sparked the Turkish invasion.

Last night American C-130 planes used a ceasefire to start getting them out.

A top military source said: “It’s been near chaos since Trump’s astonishing announcement. A small number of our special forces were among the larger number of Americans still there.”

A small number of French troops are also believed involved.

The SAS soldiers are understood to have been in Syria since July along with an unknown number of troops from the UK’s Special Forces Support Group, mostly paratroopers.

An earlier airlift was halted when commanders feared the plane could be hit in crossfire.
