Sarsfields and Slaughtneil dominate Camogie Club Team of the Year

All-Ireland finalists Sarsfields and Slaughtneil occupy all but three positions on the AIB Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year.

Champions Sarsfields from Galway and Slaughtneil, the Derry powerhouse that they beat in the final, have six players each selected, with the team completed by two players from Clare and Munster champions Scariff-Ogonnelloe and another from Dublin and Leinster kingpins St Vincent’s.

The four Provincial Players of the Year have also been announced with Siobhan McGrath, Aoife Ni Chaiside, Niamh Hetherton and Mairead Scanlan taking the honours for Connacht, Ulster, Leinster and Munster respectively, having also been named on the team of the year.

The four are therefore in the running for the AIB Camogie Club Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this week.

All players were due to be presented with their awards at a special ceremony though that has had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis.
