Sarajevo receive Celtic boost as Vincent Tan solves wages glitch ahead of Champions League showdown

FK Sarajevo's owner has revealed player's wages have been paid this month by Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan.

The Bosnian champions face Celtic in the first qualifying round of the Champions League next month, but their players threatened to go on strike because their wages hadn't been paid.

Sarajevo were bought by Vietnamese businessman Nguyen Hoai Nam in April and he's vowed to make them a major European force, as they look to spring a shock against Neil Lennon 's side.

The non payment of players' wages - which saw the Bosnian Players Union intervene - was simply a glitch, claims the new owner.

And he enlisted the help of Cardiff owner Tan - who was the previous owner of Sarajevo - to pay the players.

Nam said: "FK Sarajevo are in Slovenia at a training camp and are preparing for the Champions League qualifying match with Celtic.

"All the issues have been resolved.

"I received the support and assistance of Vincent Tan and his Cardiff City club. He was able to transfer the salaries.

"The delay was because I was waiting for guidance from the Vietnamese State Bank and the Ministry of Investment

Planning to implement the fastest procedures.

"I've read the headlines about the delay and accept the criticism. I admit this was my fault - I lack experience when it comes to running a foreign football club.

"But everyone is back smiling in our club and there are now no problems.

"All that remains is for us to do the club proud against Celtic."
