Sarah Paulson responds to fans comparing her to Adele: 'What I wish they were comparing was my talent to her talent'

Sarah Paulson has responded to fans saying she looks just like Adele, explaining that she wishes the comparisons were about the singer’s talent rather than her appearance.

Speaking to EW Live on SiriusXM this week, the American Horror Story actor recalled how she first became aware of the comments when she noticed that her name was trending on Twitter.

“I was like, ‘what? Did I die? What happened?’” Paulson teased before explaining that the comparisons have “been going on for a while”.

“I was scrolling through and then I was like, Oh. It’s the Adele thing again,” she said.

While the 45-year-old actor said she was flattered by the comparisons, she explained that she wished people were comparing their talent rather than their appearance.

“What I wish they were comparing was my talent to her talent, and saying that mine was as great as her,” Paulson said light-heartedly.

“Which quite honestly… they can’t say, because no one’s talent is as great as hers. Which is really irritating.”

Paulson continued: “But I’ll take looking like her. She’s a beauty. I’ll take it.

The comparisons between Paulson and Adele came about again after the singer shared a rare post on Instagram of herself celebrating her 32nd birthday.

The singer’s post quickly garnered millions of likes (it currently has 11m) and thousands of comments.

Meanwhile, the black organza-sleeved dress worn by Adele in the photo has sold out.

On Instagram, the designer, Lieselot Elzinga, was among those who wished the singer a happy birthday, before thanking her for wearing the dress.

“Happy birthday Adele,” Elzinga wrote. “Thank you for wearing our balloon-sleeve dress for the occasion!”
