Sarah Moras’ vow for Liana Jojua at UFC 242: ‘I’m going to show her what it’s all about’

LAS VEGAS — Sarah Moras is looking to turn things around and she doesn’t intend on holding back.

She takes on newcomer Liana Jojua at UFC 242 on Sept. 7, and is looking forward to throwing down in Abu Dhabi.

“It’s a new name but I’m excited,” Moras told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Tuesday. “I’m going to show her what it’s all about.”

“I just want to get better and be the best fighter I can be and I want to hurt people in the process,” Moras added. “So I want to hurt her as much as I can and go from there.”

Moras (5-5 MMA, 2-4 UFC) is currently on a three-fight losing streak, most recently suffering a TKO loss to Macy Chiasson at UFC on ESPN+ 9. She got off to a good start, controlling Chiasson for the larger part of the first round, before Chiasson was able to turn things around, and get the second-round finish.

Moras recently made the move to Las Vegas from Canada, in hopes of a career turnaround. She credits Xtreme Couture head coach Dennis Davis for the work and improvements he’s been able to help her with.

“Right from my very first day at the gym, he came up to me, he was super positive, wasn’t pushy or anything but very knowledgeable,” Moras said. “He’s good at making you feel confident and he took time to work with me right from the beginning, spent a lot of time. He’s a smaller guy so he moves very similar to how I move, rather than getting taught by some bigger guy that has different movement. He understands what it’s like to be the smaller person and working and he’s just so talented and such a great guy.”

And when she takes on Georgia’s Jojua (7-2 MMA), who will make her octagon debut, and hasn’t competed in over a year, she’ll be more concerned with imposing her will.

“I study a little bit but not as much as my coaches do,” Moras said. “I just like to train and do what they tell me to do and focus on me rather than what they’ll do to me. I like to go in and just be confident in what I got.”
