Sarah Michelle Gellar tells Kelly Clarkson her kids are watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Now is the best possible time to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, whether you've never seen the show before or have every number from the musical episode memorized.

While a '90s teen TV show might seem dated, it deals with the end of the world time after time, politicians who turn into snake monsters, incels, and good conquering evil in a way that feels quite timely given the current political landscape.

Buffy is perfect pandemic viewing, so it makes sense that actress Sarah Michelle Gellar showed the show to her kids for the first time in quarantine.

SMG made an appearance on a socially distant episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday and talked about why her kids are suddenly into Buffy (as they should be).

In the drive-thru where the two women met to chat, the Buffy actress also talked about meeting her now-husband Freddie Prinze Jr., buying an inflatable bull for her pool during quarantine and getting her driver's license.

Gellar, 43, said that her two kids, Charlotte Grace, 10, and Rocky James, 8, hadn't seen BTVS before quarantine started but now they're super fans.

"We just started. I had never thought to show it to them," she said. "They asked during quarantine, we were trying to find shows to binge, and I was like okay. I didn’t even know if they’d be into it, but they are like so into it."

She joked that she's "the world's biggest disappointment" because she doesn't remember every moment with the show and will often have to text people to answer their questions.

"They think they know it better than I do at this point," she said, before adding, "My son actually thinks that I’m cool now."

SMG's kids offer definitive proof that Buffy is by far the best pandemic binge watch. At least in this story, the heroine always wins.
