Sarah Jessica Parker shares rare snap of son as he heads off to high school graduation

Sarah Jessica Parker shared a rare photo of her son as she marked his graduation day on Friday.

The 56-year-old Sex and the City star and Hollywood husband Matthew Broderick, 59, are proud parents to three children; 18-year-old son James and 11-year-old twin daughters Marion and Tabitha.

The TV star tends to keep her children out of the spotlight, and surprised fans with a rare snap of her teenage son as he prepared to celebrate the end of his school career.

SJP photographed her son on a quiet street in New York City while bathed in sunshine, with the snap showing him from behind wearing a purple hooded jumper.

She captioned the message: “Into the sunset of his High School career.

“Field day. The period at the end of a long sentence. And all the sunrises and sunsets in his future.

“It's a milestone. Not fully understood til it's on your doorstep. And til they cross the threshold into their next mostly mysterious chapter.”

She continued: “Just like all the other chapters that are part of the epic novel that is the story of child and parent.

“We, all of us Parker-Brodericks are proud, weepy and so looking forward to celebrating your coming graduation.

“Enjoy this beautiful day, you have earned it. We love you so dear Son and brother.”

She signed off the message: “Mama” alongside a kiss.

SJP has explained in the past that she doesn’t want to “spoil” her children, and she and husband Matthew work hard to keep their lives private.

She said back in 2009, soon after the arrival of her twins: "I don't want my children to feel they have a sense of entitlement. I want them to work hard and be challenged."

Speaking of her daughters at the time, she said: "It's been amazing but complicated because of my current work schedule, which I have enormous regrets about.

"It is the eternal conflict of every working woman. The great challenge for me is to be all things to all people. I want to be a great mother and I want to feel good when I'm at work. But it is hard."
