Sarah Harding's father speaks for first time since Girls Aloud singer's tragic death

Sarah Harding's father has paid tribute to his late daughter in public for the first time since her tragic death.

John Hardman, who is a musician and singer, took to Instagram over Christmas to remember his daughter who passed away in September.

Alongside an old photo of the Girls Aloud star, John wrote: "In memory of my beautiful daughter Sarah Harding (Hardman) this Christmas.

"I cherish the moments we had together before and during her illness. We all miss her greatly, and we thank her fans for their love and kindness, wishing them and their families a very happy Christmas.

"One can only try to stay safe in such difficult times . Best wishes. JH..." John added.

His followers were quick to comment on the post and send their condolences.

One said: "Very sorry for your loss may she rest in peace," while another wrote: "We will always love her. keep strong."

John later replied and said: "Thank you everybody Good New Year to all."

Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer and sadly passed away in September this year (REX)

He was estranged from Sarah for two decades, but his post suggests that they had reconciled before her death on September 5.

Sarah did not speak about her relationship with her father after being diagnosed with breast cancer in summer 2020.

However, she did speak positively about him in her autobiography Hear Me Out - which was released in March 2021.

She wrote: “My dad John was hugely into music. A talented musician in his own right, he played lead guitar, piano and bass, and he sang too.

"I vividly remember the photo of him and his guitar which was on display at my granny’s house.

“Dad has been in quite a few bands over the years and one of the things we have in common is that we’ve both performed at The Royal Variety Performance and met the Queen. How cool is that?" she added.
