Sarah Harding leaves fans in tears with unheard solo single with profits going to The Christie

Sarah Harding has released an unheard, solo single for charity as she battles breast cancer.

The Girls Aloud singer's new track 'Wear It Like A Crown' was released at midnight and loyal fans have already helped it shoot straight to the top of the download and streaming chart.

Sarah, from Stockport, announced that any of the profits gained from the sales of the single will got to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, based in Withington, where she is receiving treatment.

The 39-year-old tweeted on Thursday morning: "Hi everyone - hope you're well. It's been lovely to hear that you guys have been enjoying Hear Me Out, both the book & the song!

"I can't believe you nutters got the song not only into the charts, but to NUMBER 1! I love you all so much, you're the best people in the world.

"So, while I was searching through my laptop for old photos to include in the book I actually came across a song I'd recorded about ten years ago. I've always really loved it, and it made me feel a bit sad that no one ever got to hear it.

"I mentioned this to my team and they said we could release it, and I thought 'why the hell not?' It's called Wear It Like A Crown and it's out on iTunes and streaming... FROM TODAY RIGHT HERE: http://linktr.ee/SarahHarding."

Sarah added: "I've literally no idea how this all works anymore, but on the off chance it generates any profit, I'll give it all to the Christie NHS Foundation @thechristienhs where I'm receiving my treatment.

"If you've read my book you'll know just how amazing the Doctors, Nurses and all the staff at The Christie are. They are actual angels. I hope you all like Wear It Like a Crown, give it a listen and let me know what you think. Lots of love, S x."

And fans have been absolutely loving the release.

"This song is everything I would expect from a solo Sarah Harding song... It's so unmistakably her!!!!" tweeted one.

Another said: "I'm crying, so beyond proud of you @SarahNHarding what a banger #WearItLikeACrown."

"Thank you for sharing it with us! It feels so good getting and listening to a new song from you! Sending so much love your way. Constantly thinking of you!" a third added.

Sarah announced her breast cancer diagnosis to fans last August but was then given the news that it had spread to other parts of her body.

Sarah has since undergone a mastectomy and intensive chemotherapy but in a devastating update earlier this month, she said the cancer spread to her spine.

Last week, she also released a candid book, titled Hear Me Ou,t which she said was a "dream last summer'" and is now a reality.

The book tells her story "in her own words" and also features parts written by her fellow Girls Aloud stars Cheryl, Kimberly Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts.
