Sarah Greene 'received message beyond grave' from Mike Smith to move on with his friend

Sarah Greene has told how late husband Mike Smith sent her a message from beyond grave to fall in love with his best friend.

Saturday Superstore's former host Sarah, 64, was married to Mike from 1989 until he died from complications following major heart surgery in 2014.

She has since found love with one of the Top of the Pops late presenter's oldest friends, ex-British touring car champion Robb Gravett.

Speaking on the My Time Capsule podcast, former Dancing On Ice star Sarah has revealed how her late husband was the one who prompted her to pursue a romantic relationship with his pal.

"I sort of know Mike is pulling so many strings in my life," the Ex-Blue Peter presenter explained to host Michael Fenton Stevens.

"He has undoubtedly been responsible for me meeting my beloved who was one of his oldest friends, who waited a certain amount of time but did keep leaving messages on the answering machine. I thought he was just being kind."

Sarah continued to disclose how a message explicitly telling her to date Robb prompted her to take the retired racing driver's calls.

“Then I got a message almost saying ‘for God’s sake, Greeno, Robb is trying to make contact with you because he actually wants to take you out, not because he’s kind. So will you just get off your arse and go and answer the phone next time it rings!’

"And lo and behold, a whole new conversation started. I’m sure, and Robb is very sure too, because it’s a very strange situation."

During the podcast interview, Sarah was asked to reveal five things she'd like to put in a time capsule; four she’d like to preserve and one she’d like to bury and never have to think about again.

Throughout the chat, the former Doctor Who actress discussed her late husband and her new relationship following his sad death.

The TV presenter admitted she was initially concerned it might be weird for Robb to spend time in her house, seeing " pictures everywhere of Mike", but explained how the motorsport star is comfortable for the situation.

Sarah - who co-presented Going Live! with Phillip Schofield in the 1980s - explained how her current partner reassures her that it was be strange if there wasn't memories of Mike around the house, reminding her that he "loves him too".

Robb co-founded Trakstar in 1989 with Sarah's late husband – finishing 2nd in his class that year, behind Andy Rouse's Ford Sierra RS500.

The pair's team went on to win the 1990 British Touring Car Championship.

Sarah and Robb were first pictured together in 2018, but the TV star is yet to reveal when their romance first began.
