Sarah Ferguson weighs up 6-figure offer for tell-all TV interview after losing duchess title following Epstein scandal

Sarah Ferguson is said to be ‘actually quite keen to answer questions’ - (PA)

Sarah Ferguson is weighing up her options for a "tell-all" TV interview after receiving "significant bids" from US channels, it has been reported.

Broadcasters are said to be offering six-figure sums for the former Duchess of York, 66, to tell her side of the story about her friendship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

She and ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have been stripped of their titles following damaging headlines about the extent of their ties with Epstein, who Fergie referred to as a "supreme friend" in a 2011 email.

Fergie could choose to share her perspective with Oprah Winfrey, who has interviewed the ex-duchess before and famously helmed Harry and Meghan's 2021 bombshell interview.

Palace insiders are said to fear Fergie could "go rogue" now that she is out of the royal fold but understand "there’s not much they can do to stop her," The Sun reports.

A source added: "There’s a danger of her going rogue and saying things that could cause embarrassment for King Charles and Queen Camilla, or other members of the family."

Besides US networks, Fergie's team are also said to have received bids from channels in the Gulf states as well as the UK.

However, her PR team are said to be keen to avoid a disastrous "Maitlis" scenario in the vein of Andrew's interview with Emily Maitlis on Newsnight in 2019 - widely seen as a turning point in the fall of his public image.

Another insider says that Fergie, who shares two daughters Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, with Andrew, believes an interview could "make or break" what remains of her reputation.

They added: "It would also give her the chance to spell out the fact she knew nothing about what Epstein and his associates were doing in terms of abusing girls.

"Sarah is actually quite keen to answer questions as she strongly believes she’s done nothing wrong, and been harshly treated."

Fergie’s dilemma comes as US legislators have criticised Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for what they describe as “silence” amid their probe into Jeffrey Epstein.

Members of the House Oversight Committee had requested a “transcribed interview” with the former prince in connection with his “long-standing friendship” with the paedophile financier, who took his own life in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.

But after saying they had not heard from him, Democrats Robert Garcia and Suhas Subramanyam accused Andrew of hiding.

Their statement read: “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s silence in the face of the Oversight Democrat’s demand for testimony speaks volumes.

“The documents we’ve reviewed, along with public records and Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s testimony, raise serious questions he must answer, yet he continues to hide.

“Our work will move forward with or without him, and we will hold anyone who was involved in these crimes accountable, no matter their wealth, status, or political party. We will get justice for the survivors.”

Andrew, who was stripped of his prince and Duke of York titles earlier this month, denies any wrongdoing.
