Sarah Beeny's home has the most awesome library ever and it even has a hidden whiskey cupboard

TV presenter Sarah Beeny and her family, husband Graham Swift and children Rafferty, Billy, Charlie and Laurie, left London nearly four years ago to build their own grand home in the Somerset countryside. Now their process of renovating the house is being followed in her Channel 4 show Sarah Beeny's New Life in the Country.

The third series of the show,on Channel 4 on Monday, April 17, began with Sarah transforming one of the rooms into an incredible library. Her aim was to create a traditional country house library, inspired by an 18th-century stately home she previously worked on.

The room in their new home has been covered wall to wall in bespoke bookcases, with sustainable timber coloured to give it a rich, aged, antique appearance, and with another reading area to house more books - and even a hidden whiskey cupboard. Speaking about the library Sarah said: "What is amazing about this library is that it will be here for hundreds of years...I love books, I love having lots of books".

During the library renovation, Sarah hoped that the new snug reading area within it would encourage her four sons to read more. The book nook is home to a seat within the bookshelves and a cosy carpet. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.

Her sons described the book snug as "awesome" and "very cool" and Sarah was delighted with their reaction. As her sons read in the library she said: "This is sort of all my dreams come true. I'd really hoped we would use the library a bit like this, I'm very lucky."

The transformed library is home to big leather sofas, a white fireplace, a reading desk, a chandelier and even its own moving stair rail to reach all the shelves. Another hidden gem of the library is the hidden cupboard, made to look just like wood panelling, that is actually home to Graham's secret whiskey collection.

The new series was filmed before Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. Last week she appeared on ITV's Lorraine when she told viewers that following treatment she had now been given the all-clear from doctors. Read more about that here.
