Saracens hooker Jack Singleton set for Gloucester loan next season

Saracens have confirmed that England hooker Jack Singleton will join Gloucester on loan next season while the club are in the Championship.

Singleton came through the Saracens Academy before joining Worcester. He returned to north London this season and was part of England’s World Cup squad.

He now follows Max Malins and Ben Earl (both Bristol Bears) in leaving the club next season while they attempt to win promotion back to the Premiership for the 2021/22 campaign, when he will return.

Singleton had been linked with a move to Leicester Tigers but will join Gloucester for a year.

"Over the last couple of seasons Jack has developed into an international quality rugby player and was rewarded with a place in the England Rugby World Cup squad in Japan," said Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys.

“His ability to carry the ball, and his general set piece work, are well suited to our style of play and Jack will get an opportunity to develop his game further at Gloucester.

“In front row terms, he is still a young player but with significant Premiership, European and international experience, Jack’s an exciting addition to the Gloucester squad ahead of next season.”

Jamie George, Saracens and England’s first-choice hooker, will remain at Saracens along with the likes of Vincent Koch and Elliot Daly, but many players are leaving on loan or permanently rather than playing in the Championship for a year.
