Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox has signed up to make her big screen debut in the new film from Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen.
Yesterday we reported that Madsen was looking to the UK for funding for his new film Red Light Runners and was applying to the enterprise investment scheme, which gives tax breaks to movie makers filming in this country. He has already signed up former EastEnders star Martin Kemp to play the lead in the project - a heist movie filmed in and around London.
The project's co-producer Clark Westerman said he believed Cox, who will have a support role in the film "brings the blend of a strong female with the added value of a one-person marketing bonanza" to the project.
The film will also be the first full-length feature for director Nick Egan who is best known for his music videos for Oasis, Mick Jagger and Kylie Minogue. Ananova reports that Harvey Keitel and Dennis Hopper are also being lined up to appear.
Despite being a relatively small budget project Westerman insists it will be a mainstream picture. "This is not a minority art film," he said. "It is aimed at the UK and US mass markets and it has the benefit of a list of well-known, highly respected actors."
