Saquon Barkley’s message to Giants fans: ‘Don’t panic’

The New York Giants dropped their opening game of the year in embarrassing fashion, getting blown out in Arlington to the tune of 35-17. They showed that they aren’t even close to being on the same level as the Dallas Cowboys.

But worry not, says superstar running back Saquon Barkley. There’s still a long way to go and he believes we’ve not yet seen the best of these Giants.

We certainly hope not.

Barkley was also quick to point out that while half of the league started 1-0, the other half is 0-1 (of course, there was one tie).

Ironically, part of the reason the Giants were unable to keep pace with the Cowboys in Week 1 was due to the misuse of Barkley, who refused to complain about his lack of carries or touches (11 and 15, respectively).

It’s not likely to be a mistake the Giants make again as Barkley is expected to see a substantial uptick in touches against the Buffalo Bills.

“We all know that Saquon is the focus of our offense and certainly, smartly, the focus of teams that are defending us,” head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters on Thursday. “His charm is that you can hand it to him or throw it to him.”

In order to avoid further panic, the Giants will need to ride Barkley’s charms at least 25 times on Sunday and somehow come away with a victory.
