Saquon Barkley offers advice to NFL Combine participants, non-participants

A year ago at this time, then-Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was preparing to participate in the NFL Combine amid seemingly endless fanfare.

Barkley, of course, did not let the spectators down, putting on an athletic display that had New York Giants scouts particularly intrigued. And we all now know how that story ultimately ended.

So as an entirely new crop of prospects prepare to try their hand at the 2019 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, Barkley offered up some support and advice for those in attendance and even a little for those who aren’t.

Anyone whom Barkley reaches with his tweet should heed those words. While the NFL Combine provides an excellent opportunity to move up draft boards for those invited, it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the world for those who have been left at home.

The always humble Barkley may have had a direct path to the No. 2 overall pick just a year ago, but for anyone working diligently away from the cameras and lights, they should know that hard work and effort will be found and recognized by scouts.
