Saquon Barkley nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough Athlete’ at 2019 ESPYs

Nominations for the 2019 ESPY Awards, which will air on ABC on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. ET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, were officially released on Wednesday.

While pouring over the list of nominees, very few members of the New York Giants made an appearance, but that doesn’t mean they were blanked entirely.

The only Giant to find himself nominated for an award is the one player we’d all expect to be up for an honor — running back Saquon Barkley.

The 2018 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year was nominated for the “Best Breakthrough Athlete” award alongside Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks and tennis player Naomi Osaka.

Barkley finished his rookie campaign with over 2,000 yards from scrimmage, including over 1,300 yards rushing and 15 combined touchdowns, winning multiple awards and honors, while also setting various league and franchise records.
