Saquon Barkley lands on Pete Prisco’s top 100 NFL players list

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is the only New York Giants player to be named to Pete Prisco’s top 100 NFL players of 2019 list.

Prisco is a senior writer for CBS Sports with over three decades worth of experience. Here is what he had to say about Barkley:

“He went over 2,000 yards from scrimmage as a rookie, which speaks volumes about how special he is as a player. With a year under his belt, I expect more carries and rushing yards this season.”

Prisco failed to mention that Barkley was the NFL’s 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year, or that he landed in the top 10 running backs at the end of the regular season. Barkley ended 2018 with 1,307 yards on 261 carries and 11 touchdowns, plus added 91 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns. He started all 16 games and had zero fumbles all season.

There is no question that Barkley deserves a spot on this list, and it’s likely that he will perform even better this year than he did last year with some experience under his belt.

While Barkley is the only Giants player on Prisco’s list, the Los Angeles Chargers have the most players with the Dallas Cowboys coming in second. And, for this year, a quarterback does not hold the top spot. That belongs to Aaron Donald, defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams and last year’s Defensive Player of the Year.
