Saquon Barkley is already running and cutting after his ankle injury

New York Giants superstar Saquon Barkley left a Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a serious high ankle sprain, but the running back is already back on the field and appears to be in great condition.

Barkley met with a specialist last week who recommended that he not undergo surgery. The Giants did not opt to put Barkley on IR, and coach Pat Shurmur declined to give a timetable for Barkley’s return, but such an injury generally results in a four-to-eight week absence.  On Sunday, NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones reported that Barkley was confident that he could return sooner than many people expect.

On Wednesday, ahead of the Giants’ home game against the Vikings, Barkley worked out in front of the media, and was able to cut on his injured ankle.
