Saquon Barkley, Golden Tate among nine Giants unlikely to play vs. Bengals

The New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals will square off at Paul Brown Stadium in Week 3 of the preseason on Thursday night, and at least nine players are expected to sit.

Among those expected to be sidelined are running back Saquon Barkley (coach’s decision), wide receivers Golden Tate (concussion) and Sterling Shepard (thumb), cornerbacks Sam Beal (hamstring), Deandre Baker (knee) and Antonio Hamilton (groin), linebacker Alec Ogletree (calf) and offensive linemen Chad Wheeler (back) and George Asafo-Adjei (concussion).

Notably absent from that list are tight end Evan Engram and wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring), who are each expected to make their preseason debut.

Although head coach Pat Shurmur has not indicated how long his starters will play, it’s likely they remain in the game for at least one quarter and possibly even into the third.
