Saquon Barkley gave such a cool answer when asked about Daniel Jones’ first start

This week the Giants handed the keys to their franchise to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, as the former Duke star will get his first NFL start this Sunday when the Giants travel to Tampa Bay to face the Bucs.

That means the Eli Manning-era is all but over in New York, which is bittersweet for some fans, but is something that needed to be done.

But now Jones has his chance to show why the team picked him with the No. 6 overall pick in last April’s draft.

Saquon Barkley was asked today about how excited he is to form a pairing with a young QB but the Giants star running back instead took the opportunity to talk about how special this game will be for Jones.

This is pure leadership right here:

I’m excited, but just more excited for him. I know everyone is making a big deal that’s the starting quarterback of New York, but I don’t think you guys really understand how much effort and hard work you put in since you’re a little kid to get to this moment and get to this position. Yes, it hits you when you get draft. Yes, it hits you went you hit preseason. But when you actually step on that field and you’re a starting quarter back you just kind of reflect on all the of the hard work that you’ve put in and all of the adversity you’ve faced. I’m really just more excited for him to go out there and get his first start. I’m going to do whatever it takes and I know we’re all going to do whatever it takes to try to have his first start go the way we all want it to go. Our mindset this week is winning.

Here’s the question he was asked that led to the answer.

Pretty awesome message and mindset by Barkley.

Let’s see if the Giants can get their first win Sunday.
