SAP has announced plans to acquire SmartRecruiters, which is a talent acquisition platform used by over 4,000 organizations globally. With this acquisition, the German software giant wants to bolster its SuccessFactors suite with advanced recruiting tools and AI-driven hiring capabilities. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2025, pending regulatory approval. Financial details haven’t been disclosed.
The company is positioning this acquisition as a way to deliver a more complete hiring solution. “Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority, it’s a business priority,” said Muhammad Alam, head of Product & Engineering and Executive Board member at SAP SE.
With SmartRecruiters under its umbrella, SAP wants to create an end-to-end system for managing the entire candidate lifecycle, from sourcing and screening to onboarding and beyond. It looks like the goal is to eliminate silos in hiring and give recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates a more seamless experience.
What SmartRecruiters Bring to the Table?
SmartRecruiters is known for its modern, user-friendly approach to hiring. Its platform offers AI-powered candidate matching, recruitment marketing, and workflow automation. Something that many traditional applicant tracking systems lack.
So by integrating these tools into SuccessFactors, SAP is promising faster time-to-hire, improved decision-making, and deeper visibility into recruitment metrics like hiring bottlenecks and talent pipeline performance. And because both companies use embedded analytics and AI, SAP says customers can expect more intelligent hiring recommendations out of the box.
However, SAP has confirmed that SmartRecruiters’ products will remain available as a standalone offering “for the foreseeable future.” That’s likely a relief for current customers who don’t use SuccessFactors but rely on SmartRecruiters for hiring.
At the same time, deeper integration into SAP’s HCM stack is on the horizon. Once complete, enterprise customers using SuccessFactors will be able to manage their hiring and HR functions through a single system, simplifying compliance, reporting, and operational workflows.
