PwC has released one of the largest enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformations. According to the shared press release from SAP, the company is moving its global operations to SAP’s cloud-based platform. It unifies the accounting and consulting giant’s systems across 19 countries and more than 100,000 employees.
The new ERP solution replaces PwC’s aging SAP ECC software and a patchwork of third-party tools with a single, standardized ERP environment. Built on SAP Cloud ERP and supported by SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP), the new setup brings together finance, project management, analytics, and compliance functions under one roof.
It is said to simplify processes such as project billing, revenue recognition, treasury operations, and cash accounting, while reducing maintenance demands. Apart from that, PwC has also got some real-time data capabilities via SAP Analytics Cloud, Datasphere, and group reporting tools.
PwC says the clean-core architecture will make it easier to adopt new technologies as they emerge. That includes further use of SAP’s Joule AI copilot and business AI tools to automate tasks and generate insights. PwC’s SAP Managed Services team is already planning to work with SAP on future upgrades in data management and analytics through SAP’s Business Data Cloud.
SAP sees this go-live as proof that its cloud tools can handle big, complex companies, which could encourage other long-time customers to move away from older systems. For PwC, switching to the cloud is a long-term move to make its operations easier to scale, manage, and make decisions across its global business.
