Saoirse-Monica Jackson unveils official Derry Girls book 'Erin's Diary'

We've all been missing them during lockdown, and with filming on pause due to Coronavirus, it might be another while before we get the chance to see the Derry Girls in action once again.

But the good news for fans of the show is that an official Derry Girls book is on the way.

Yep, 'Erin's Diary', written by Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, is set to be published in November 2020, and is likely to provide an antidote for all those who are missing the regular series.

Sharing the news today, Orion Publishing said: "We are delighted to announce that we're publishing the official #DerryGirls book, #ErinsDiary in November!!"

Also commenting on the news today, Saoirse-Monica Jackson said: "Erin's diary is out in November, be kind to your self and make sure you hear from, well..... The voice of a generation !!!

The news comes just a few weeks after Nicola Coughlan revealed details about when Derry Girls might be back on our screens for a third season.

Speaking on Angela Scanlon's Thanks A Million podcast, the actress said: "We were meant to start filming around now.

"We made the second series back in 2018, so it's been a long time since we've been together filming."

She continued: "But filming has been put on hold for now which sucks, and we're all really excited to go back and start again and see the scripts because we actually haven't."

She also added: "There’s tentative dates when we hope to go back but we don’t really know at the minute."
