Santina Cawley murder accused Karen Harrington further remanded in custody pending bail application

The woman arrested for and charged with the murder of Santina Cawley has been further remanded in custody pending a bail application to the High Court.

Karen Harrington, 35, was before Cork District Court again on Monday morning for a brief appearance during which solicitor Paula McCarthy requested a later court date to allow for a High Court bail application for her client.

Judge Mary Dorgan agreed to remand Ms Harrington in custody until September 6, Cork Beo reports.

Ms. Harrington was arrested last Wednesday and charged with the July murder of two-year-old Santina Cawley at an apartment at Elderwood Park, Boreenmanna Road, Cork.

She was remanded in custody and a request for necessary medical attention due to being four months pregnant was granted.

Both of Santina's parents, Michael Cawley and Bridget O'Donoghue, were present at both court hearings.
