Santiago Moreno in Rangers transfer link as Colombian journalist hints at interest

Rangers have been linked with a move for Colombian winger Santiago Moreno.

Reports in the player’s home country claim the Ibrox side are interested in the right sided wide man.

Rangers had previously been credited with an interest in Moreno’s compatriot Rafael Santos Borre when the front man’s River Plate contract expired.

However, he’s now set to resign for the Argentinian giants and double his money, virtually ruling out a switch to Scotland.

But Colombian journalist Ricardo Arce has hinted that the Gers could be for Moreno, who currently plies his trade with America de Cali.

Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson would reportedly have to fork out $3million (£2.15m) to get him, and are likely to face competition from England.

Moreno can also play on the left hand side or in the number ten role. That could make him an ideal back up or eventual replacement for Ryan Kent.

The Englishman has long been a transfer target for Leeds United, who had a big bid rejected for the former Liverpool youngster last summer.

Moreno has six goals and four assists in 25 appearances for Cali this season.
