Santa visits children in Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children

Visiting Santa in your local shopping centre is a big part of the Christmas festivities for most - but for some sick children this is not possible.

And in a bid to bring some Christmas magic to the youngsters in the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, the Park Centre organised for Santa to bring these festivities to their wards.

During a surprise visit on Thursday 12 December, the children, their parents and hospital staff were given a morning to remember when Santa brought his sack of goodies to them.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Ruth Lindsay, manager of the Park Centre said that this event is their way of giving back to the community.

"This is our third year visiting the children and their families in the Royal. And it's great to give the staff something to look forward to too," she said.

"Our Santa visits all wards and takes time to speak to the children who are physically well enough for a chat, and for those who may not be up for it, he leaves extra presents and selection boxes for them.

"Throughout the year we do a number of cross-community events like this, and will continue to do them. Our community is just fantastic, and we want to give back to them as much as we can.

"The Royal Victoria Hospital is our neighbour, and the families of the patients and staff come through our doors every day, so to be able to bring this Christmas magic to them is an honour."

The Park Centre is holding a FREE family event on Saturday 14 December from 12-3pm with special guests Anna, Elsa and Olaf coming along for the children.
