Santa taken "hostage" from Dumfries pub to be freed for charity

A stolen Santa taken “hostage” from a Dumfries pub is set to be freed – and generate money for charity in the process.

N’Dulge, on St Andrew Street, put up a Facebook appeal for information after their “treasured” Santa was pinched by a punter at the weekend.

Following that post a page was set up called “The magical kidnapping of N’Dulge Santa”.

And the page creator said Father Christmas would be returned safe and well if the “ransom” of £500 was raised for charity.

Santa was spotted in various part of Dumfries as donations to Alzheimer Scotland came flooding in.

With £520 raised Christmas is saved and Santa is due to be returned imminently.

Anna Cruickshank, who owns N’Dulge, said: “It looks as though he’s had a very exciting time on his travels from what I have seen on Facebook.

“I think he’s been well looked after and he’s made £520 for charity which is good.

“It’s got nothing to do with us, someone has come up with this.

“Santa does tend to go walkabout every year. I don’t know what it is with him.

“It’s been great fun to watch it though and hopefully he comes back in one piece.”
