Santa Lucia will soon open a second restaurant in Glasgow following the success of its Italian eatery on Byres Road.
Owner Marcello first started welcoming in customers to the west end venue back in May 2019. Since then, he and his team have won a number of awards and a series of rave reviews in response to high quality, authentic Italian food and elegant dining.
And now Santa Lucia will expand to the Merchant City, taking over the former Qua unit on Ingram Street.
Marcello has teamed up with business partner Mariano as he looks to bring the best of Neapolitan and Italian cuisine (including those famous pizzas) to another part of the city.
Speaking about the new venture, Marcello told Glasgow Live: "We took over Qua on Ingram street late December. It was in the pipeline for a while and we always knew we wanted a second place but we couldn’t pass on this opportunity for such a hot spot!
"I’ve teamed up with my business partner, and best friend of 15 years, Mariano. Since moving to Glasgow from Naples a few years ago we’ve both worked in many restaurants and felt that there was a space for a place like ours!
"The restaurant is under construction right now but we hope to finish it in time for the restrictions easing up. We haven’t planned on a takeaway menu only for the moment as I’d really like people’s first impression to be the full 'shebang', getting to experience not just traditional and quality food, but an amazing atmosphere too.
"We want to continue to serve honest, and high quality Italian food. You can expect an elegant, yet colourful and lively setting with plates such as homemade seafood ravioli, champagne risotto and of course the traditional Neapolitan plate - pizzas!"
