Santa delivers Christmas cheer with helping hand from Lanarkshire businesses

Sleigh bells were ringing as Santa Claus came to town handing out chocolate treats.

He’s a busy man in the run-up to Christmas with so many letters to read and toys to sort but he still found time for the day out touring the streets in north Motherwell. First stop was Bute Avenue.

The now annual visit was organised by Cameron Dalziel Skip Hire Ltd with assistance from family-owned businesses and co-sponsors, Julia and Mac’s Snacks; C&C MOT and Service Centre; and C&C Transport.

Eddie McNeil from Lanarkshire Landscapes also turned Santa’s helper for the day as hundreds of selection boxes were handed out to children and also to local schools and nurseries in the local community, including Ailsa Family Learning Centre, Logans Primary School and Nursery, and Clyde Valley school.

Skip hire boss Cameron told Lanarkshire Live : “We’ve been doing this for a few years now.

"Last year we were short of selection boxes so we bought a hundred more this year.

"We started about 2pm and were out until the evening and done Forgewood as well. It went really well and it was good to see all the kids with a smile on their faces.

"A couple of the guys that work with us Nicholas Latham and Stuart Dalziel helped out as the elves and Kevin Morrow was the driver.

“We have some selection boxes left this year so Julia and Mac’s Snacks in Rose Street, which is named after my mum and dad, will be handing them out to any children who happen to come in with their parents.”

The snack shop have also teamed up with Kerr’s Bakery for a second successive year to offer up 40 Christmas dinners to the elderly and vulnerable.

Opening hours are 6.30am to 2pm.
