Santa Claus event raises £800 for Bargeddie community group

FATHER Christmas helped a Bargeddie community group boost its coffers heading into the new year.

A special Santa Claus event was held in aid of the Safety Zone over two nights to raise funds to continue its fantastic work entertaining and supporting residents.

More than 200 tickets were sold and kind donations from local businesses and residents, including selection boxes, raffles, prizes and cash, took the final total to an impressive £800.

Co-organiser Caroline Tunmore said: “It was an idea that my neighbours Heather Karagandere, Ashley Pattison and I came up with following a discussion in our gardens where we were going to book a Santa Claus to come and see our own kids.

“We decided it would be nice to do something for all of the kids in the village, so we made an event of it.

“The kids had a ball and the community Safety Zone will recieve a great donation as a result.

“We had a DJ and photographer, who are both local residents, who donated their time for free, as well as a snow machine.

“The Grinch and walking Christmas tree Mario came along too.

“Great fun was had by all, and we even gave away a free raffle ticket in which local girl Lisa Grimason won a 32-inch television.

“Heather, Ashley and I, as well as our helper Santa and his elves, wish to thank the community for once again coming together to make the event amazing for all of the kids, along with the adults who danced to the DJ’s tunes all day!

“It was a magical event that we will all never forget.”
