Santa brings some Christmas cheer with a three-day tour through Shotts' streets

The spirit of Christmas was certainly in the air last week.

Santa was on a three-day tour of Shotts, having his picture taken with kids and delivering Christmas cheer.

It was down to Dykehead Primary School Parent Council as part of their fundraising efforts. They are trying to raise cash for the schools playground.

Andy Allan is the chair of the parent council, and also played the role of Santa.

He said: “We wanted to bring some Christmas cheer to the town, and it proved a great success.

“There are no Christmas lights in Shotts streets this year, and a lot of the Santa Grottos will be cancelled so we felt this was a nice way to spread some cheer and have the kids get to see Santa Claus.

“It was all prearranged and booked in by parents.

“I would turn up with my elf and chat to the kids for five or so minutes and give them a wee gift.

“They could take photos and everything was also socially distanced.

“The kids loved it so much and it helped
us in our goal to raise £1,000 for the playground.”
