Two children have definitely been added to the naughty list after they pelted Santa and his helpers with eggs as they visited locals in Devon.
Father Christmas was making his way around the Okehampton Round Table Santa Sleigh on Friday, but had to halt the procession at around 7pm after the shock attack.
The two boys, thought to be around 12 years old, sprang out and threw "quite a few eggs" at Santa, forcing his volunteers to stop to get cleaned up.
James Mallen, treasurer of Okehampton Round Table, told Devon Live : "Santa was at the end of his run that night when two boys, aged around 12 years old, came out and started throwing quite a few eggs at the sleigh and then ran off.
"Santa had to get his suit cleaned and our volunteers had to clean the egg off the sleigh.
"All of us work full-time and give up our free time so when you add onto that on top of sorting out the mess and the pressures we all have at this time of year it was annoying.
"We've never had anything like this happen before, that's why we had to have a serious meeting about health and safety and volunteers being put at risk. One of the volunteers was there with her six-year-old child and the child unfortunately also ended up with a bit of egg on them."
Following the incident, Okehampton Round Table published a post on Facebook to find out the identity of the culprits.
James said: "Quite a few people named the boys who were involved and we put out a post asking the parents to call us stating the Santa runs would be stopped until we received assurance it would not be repeated.
"We are very grateful for the support we received from the community, the neighbourhood policing team who rang us up and also the parents of the children involved who were embarrassed and quite annoyed with their children.
"But in the spirit of Christmas what we have decided to do is ask the children to apologise to Santa and the Roundtable volunteers, which they have done, and they offered to clean the sleigh.
"We had already done it, but they have put right their actions and they have been taught every action has a consequence and that a few minutes of fun for them can really ruin a community event.
"Although we had the support of the police we have dealt with it ourselves and have not gone down that avenue, again in the spirit of Christmas.
"As we were able to establish it was a one-off we are carrying on as usual so no children have missed out on seeing Santa."
He added: "Hopefully everyone is back on the good list again!"
The Okehampton Round Table Santa Sleigh raises vital money for local community projects such as buying Christmas presents for children whose families use its food bank, creating a sensory garden at Okehampton College and erecting a willow arch at St James Primary School.
