Local and international runners are invited to experience a new level of running entertainment at Southeast Asia's first "Sanrio Characters Half Marathon", which will take place at One Bangkok, Rama IV Road, on Sept 27.
Held under the concept of "Sportainment", this is a new form of running experience where sports, entertainment, lifestyle and global IP are seamlessly brought together, inviting runners of all ages and families to enjoy together.
The event reimagines six globally beloved Sanrio characters -- Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Kerokerokeroppi, Cinnamoroll and Bad Badtz-Maru -- into dedicated running squads, allowing participants to choose the character that best represents their personality and running spirit.
Casual runners can take part in the "Fun Race" categories including 1.7k, 3.5k, 7k and 10k, while experienced runners can challenge themselves with the 21k half marathon. Also introduced is Thailand's first-ever 17K city run -- a completely new race distance created for runners preparing for the half marathon while also offering an exciting challenge of its own.
The race route has been carefully designed as a true city run through Bangkok's modern business district before crossing the Chao Phraya River to reveal the charm of the riverside communities and the authentic lifestyle of Thon Buri -- the cultural roots of Bangkok itself.
On the race day, recovery activities such as ice bath zones, family and kids' areas and a variety of entertainment and lifestyle activities will be presented for runners to enjoy at One Bangkok Park. Also, prepare to capture memorable moments with gigantic Sanrio character inflatables which will be specially brought to the city for this event.
Tickets cost 1,690 baht for the Fun Race categories, 1,790 baht for the 17km city run and 1,890 baht for the 21k half marathon -- all inclusive of a running shirt, bib, medal, bath towel, sticker set and insurance. The limited-edition Champion package, priced at 3,050 baht, is available for runners of all distances wishing to receive an exclusive bomber jacket.
A virtual run format is also available for runners nationwide to join at a starting distance of 3.5km.
