There's nothing lowkey about 'Loki' star Sophia Di Martino’s full-on praise for Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Sophia tweeted, “Woahhhh. What a turn. @aliaabhatt is going to take over the world in about a minute and a half. #gangubaikathiawadi.”
Reacting to this high praise from the global star, Gangubai Kathiawadi director Sanjay Leela Bhansali says, “The praise for Alia is coming from all across the world. What an impact she had made! I am so proud of her. She worked really hard to get where we both wanted the character to reach. I remember when we were shooting her Dholida song, she refused to stop for break. She continued dancing. She almost fainted. But there was no stopping her. This kind of junoon I have not seen in any of my other actors.”
This, coming from the filmmaker who has directed Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone to legendary crests, is high praise indeed. Says Bhansali, “I am not surprised that Alia is being praised by international stars. Her performance is rare and powerful, on a par with anything that any actress has achieved in any part of the world.”
