Saneh Jaan weaves a tale of authentic Thai cuisine

Thailand’s rich culinary heritage comes alive through time-tested recipes, masterful kitchen-craft and uncompromising quality.

Located in Bangkok’s prestigious diplomatic quarter in the heart of the CBD, Saneh Jaan is an oasis of traditional Thai cookery, using meticulously selected ingredients to create genuine home-style Thai food.

With Thailand’s culinary heritage a part of its very identity, Saneh jaan is named after a traditional Thai dessert typically served at auspicious occasions. The name was chosen that reflect the restaurant’s dedication to authenticity of its Thai cuisine.

The relaxed, contemporary luxuriousness that defines the restaurant’s ambience is expressed in contemporary décor design featuring works of art and displays of poetry composed by National Artist in Literature and SEA Write Award-winning poet, Naowarat Pongpaiboon. Apropos the emphasis on fresh ingredients menus and tableware are decorated with stylised images of various foods and spices.

All of the top-grade ingredients used to create the menu are sourced from across Thailand, while the meticulous preparation results in enhanced flavours of popular dishes while strictly maintaining Thai cooking traditions.

One example, Kaeng Run Juan, is a legacy Thai dish with origins going back to the era of King Rama V, made with shrimp paste sauce and served over steamed rice, while Scallops in Boiled coconut milk is a rarely seen dish made with lotus stem, known for its digestive qualities.

The restaurant’s namesake and most popular dish is Khanom Saneh Jaan,  is an old-tiem, perennial favourite  old-fashioned Thai dessert adapted from the aromatic, golden 01 Look Jun apples that feature in  , formal ceremonies. The painstaking preparation of this dish involves a smoking process using scented candles.

A can’t-be-missed summer season dish, Khao Chae is prepared using royal Thai cuisine cooking techniques. This refreshing, floral scented rice dish is served with such delicacies as Shrimp Paste Ball with shallot; Stir-fried Sweet Pickle Turnip and Deep-fried Capsi¬cum stuffed with Salted Egg Yolk.

These and many other dishes are the reason why Saneh Jaan is the gourmet pathway to traditional Thai cuisine.
