A lovely pass over the top finds Leighton Baines rushing in behind the San Marino defence on the left. He knocks the ball into the middle, with the intention of finding Rooney at the far post. It doesn't reach him though because Della Valle gets there first, and the ball cannons off his shin and into his own net from six yards out. WhoopsPhotograph: Carl Recine/Action ImagesEngland's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is causing San Marino problems, no more so than when he doubles England's lead in the 29th minute. He combines with Kyle Walker on the right, produces some neat skill on the edge of the area and plays a sharp one-two with Wayne Rooney. His clever touch takes him inside and then, from around 12 yards out, he slashes a finish high past Simoncini with his left foot, enjoyably shooting just as Rooney was about to nab the ball off himPhotograph: Owen Humphreys/PAJermain Defoe makes it three six minutes later when he taps home from close range after Oxlade-Chamberlain heads Rooney's cross across Aldo Simoncini. Oxlade-Chamberlain stabs an excellent, toepoked pass over the left of the San Marino defence for Kyle Walker to chase. He reaches it before it goes out and pulls it back for Defoe, who despite a rather unsubtle tug on his shirt, stabs the ball home from six yards outPhotograph: Carl Recine/Action ImagesThe final whistle goes to end this goalfest and England have notched their highest scoring victory since playing San Marino here in 1993. Joe Hart takes the opportunity to applaud the England fans. Though to be honest he could have turned round and done that all game and still kept a clean sheet. Or maybe he spent the 90 minutes thinking "What was I thinking agreeing to star in that god-awful Head & Shoulders ad". No doubt he'll have a bit more to do on Tuesday night when England take on MontenegroPhotograph: Paul Mcfegan/Sportsphoto Ltd./Allstar
