June 09--A San Marino girl who ran away from home after feeling overwhelmed by school and SAT tests returned home Monday night, police said.
Mira Hu, 16, reached out to her family about 8:15 p.m. She said she was at a Los Angeles Public Library and asked to be picked up, according to the San Marino Police Department.
"It is believed Mira acted on her own free will, and no other persons were involved," police said in a statement.
San Marino police detectives planned to interview Mira about the "circumstances surrounding her absence," they said.
Mira disappeared Saturday after she was dropped off to take the SAT at Arcadia High School.
Hours later, she texted her brother saying she ran away because of the academic pressure.
Surveillance video showed Mira later boarding a Greyhound bus for San Francisco, police said.
Sgt. Tim Tim Tebbetts said Mira did leave Los Angeles on the Greyhound and later returned on a Greyhound.
"Where she departed the bus, and her intended destination is still being investigated," he said.
Mira appeared to be unhappy about leaving school in China to enroll in San Marino High.
She wrote on Facebook, "Life is not filled with ups and downs. There are only downs."
The family established a website, helpfindmira.com, after she disappeared.
On Tuesday, the website announced that Mira had been found.
Mira's family thanked Arcadia and San Marino police for their help in the search.
