The Spartans played better in there last outing against UNLV, but it was not enough as they lost there 15th game in a row. The game was close throughout as neither team was able to build a double-digit lead. San Jose lead at the half by 3, but the lead could have been bigger as they went 2-10 from the free throw line in the first half, they would finish an abysmal 8-of-21 for the game. Ultimately with around 5 minutes remaining, the Rebels went on an 11-2 run and pulled away. If the Spartans can bring the same effort while hitting a few more threes they may have a chance against the Rams, although slowing down Nico Carvacho will be a tough test for any of the San Jose big men. The Spartans are starting to run out of decent chances at a conference win, as after Wednesday’s game against Colorado State the only other game they have a great shot against is at home against Wyoming

Colorado State had the weekend off to prepare for San Jose State as it will have been over a week since they last took the floor against San Diego State. The Rams were up by 3 against the Aztecs at the half, but San Diego State went on a 17-1 run over 6:43 in the second half, as CSU missed 10 shots during that stretch. The Rams shot 43.1 percent from the field, but just 26.9 percent from three as they would go on to lose by 11. If Carvacho is on his game and the Rams are able to get a little help from J.D. Paige, it could be another long night for the Spartans as they have never beaten the Rams in 17 previous attempts.
