San Francisco Warriors throwback jersey may take some getting used to

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry said recently that the team’s move to Chase Center in San Francisco didn’t really sink in until he toured the facilities following the official ribbon-cutting ceremony this month. This, even after quietly moving his family to a $31 million estate in the nation’s wealthiest neighborhood.

Now, the Warriors have released images of the team’s jerseys for the 2019-20 NBA season and the throwback uniform might take some getting used to. But before the players get to wear the words “San Francisco” on their chests, they’ll pay tribute to “The Town,” Oakland, Calif., where the Warriors played for 47 seasons and the Curry-era team made five straight Finals appearances and won three championships.

The throwback jersey is stark white with red, yellow and blue stripes around the neck and shoulders. “San Francisco” is emblazoned across the chest in yellow lettering outlined in blue.

Warriors staple Al Attles, recently enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, played a few seasons in Philadelphia before the team moved to San Francisco and he moved along with it.
