San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs set up Super Bowl LIV meeting with wins on NFL Championship Sunday

The San Francisco 49ers will meet the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV in Miami Gardens, Florida on February 2.

Kyle Shanahan's Niners booked their first appearance in the NFL showpiece since 2012 with a comprehensive 37-20 victory over the Green Bay Packers spearheaded by a relentless ground game.

Running back Raheem Mostert enjoyed a night to remember, rushing for 220 yards and four touchdowns as the top-seeded 49ers clinched the NFC title in front of a jubilant home crowd at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The Packers simply had no answer for that gameplan and trailed 27-0 at the interval.

Aaron Jones claimed a score on the ground and through the air in the second half to briefly make it a two-possession game with more than eight minutes remaining, but the 49ers never looked likely to relinquish their lead and the win was sealed by a late interception from Richard Sherman.

Earlier in the AFC, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to another comeback win as they reached their first Super Bowl in 50 years with a 35-24 triumph over the Tennessee Titans.

Having recovered from 24-0 down against the Houston Texans in the divisional round a week ago, Kansas City trailed 0-10 and 7-17 to Ryan Tannehill and the Titans, but last year’s MVP Mahomes came alive to inspire the turnaround with 28 straight points.

Mahomes finished with 294 passing yards and three touchdown passes, but equally important was the work he did with his legs, leading the team in rushing yards and crossing for an incredible 27-yard solo touchdown that put the Chiefs ahead on the stroke of half-time.

The Titans briefly ignited hope of a late comeback when Tannehill found Anthony Firkser for a 22-yard score, but their chief threat, running back Derrick Henry, was limited to just 69 yards, having picked up more than 180 in each of his last three outings.
