What’s Going To Happen
The winner takes the West division and goes to play – most likely – Boise State for the Mountain West title in a few weeks.
San Diego State does what San Diego State does.
The offense goes slow, the points aren’t there, the defense takes care of the rest. Aztec games live at under 40 total points with little thrill or fire, but they’re ultra-competitive.
Is there a passing game now? Last week against Fresno State, Ryan Agnew came up with a season-high 323-yard passing game with a touchdown. He was accurate, clutch, and sharp enough take over the game.
He’ll need to do that to keep up with the Hawaii attack that has a shot to do something special.
Getting to the Mountain West title game would be a big deal considering two years ago it was a 3-9 program. Can the passing game control the game enough to make a dent in the Aztec offense?
Head coach Nick Rolovich has been playing around with his quarterbacks, but the key will be ball security no matter what.
The Rainbow Warriors will control the time of possession, will be solid enough against the Aztec ground game to keep it from taking over, and will come up with the clinching win in a tough fight.
