San Diego Comic-Con 2025 live coverage – All the news from SDCC 2025 as it happened

John Cena in Peacemaker.

San Diego Comic-Con 2025 was a less explosive event than we’re used to, thanks in large part to Marvel Studios skipping this year (we can put that down to the fact that there isn’t another Marvel movie hitting screens for another 12 months). But there were still plenty of exciting announcements, and GamesRadar+ was there every step of the way to bring you the latest on all the most exciting upcoming shows and movies.

Below, we’ve rounded up the biggest stories to come out of this year’s convention – a snapshot of our extensive live coverage from across the convention’s four days. Naturally, that includes Saturday’s Peacemaker season 2 panel, as well as news on the future of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, word of a new Friday the 13th sequel, and descriptions of Comic-Con-exclusive footage that only those lucky few present in Hall H witnessed (luckily, GR+ was among them).

Think of it as your at-a-glance cheat sheet. You can also get a full breakdown of everything that went down by scrolling back through our real-time liveblog coverage below, or by checking out our full SDCC 2025 schedule.

The major announcements from SDCC 2025

It's Thursday, which means SDCC is officially on! Today, you can expect to see news on Five Nights at Freddy's 2, The Toxic Avenger, Twisted Metal, and more.

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman also has a live panel, so stay tuned for potential news on the upcoming Invincible season 4. We'll be bringing you updates here as they happen.

Ahead of today's panels, San Diego Comic-Con kicked off yesterday with its annual Preview Night for attendees – and the displays on the convention floor included a first look at the Power Sword from Masters of the Universe. The new movie, starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, hits theaters in June 2026.

We've touched down at the San Diego Convention Center for day one of SDCC! We'll be bringing you all the latest news and updates from the biggest and most exciting panels as they happen. Stay tuned...

While the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 panel in Hall H isn't set to kick off until this afternoon, Blumhouse and Universal Pictures got the jump(scare) on their own presentation by releasing the sequel's first full trailer earlier today.

The promo sees Mike (Josh Hutcherson), Vanessa (You's Elizabeth Lail), and Abby (Piper Rubio) face off against a creepy animatronics once again, when their former foe Freddy Fazbear unexpectedly asks them for help. It also introduces McKenna Grace's mysterious character, who is currently unnamed but looks to be some sort of ghost-hunting blogger/influencer type, given how the clip opens with her and two camera-carrying pals investigating the poltergeist-filled pizzeria.

What's more? The machines look to be loose now and there's an extra one been added to the mix that fans of the video game are likely to be excited about; say hello to Mangle, everybody!

To help celebrate 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars director Dave Filioni shared a message of thanks to all those (including George Lucas) who've supported him and the 2D medium over the years.

"I thought my job at Lucasfilm Animation would last about two years - it has now been 20. This is truly possible because of the incredible dedication and hard work of the many talented people who have worked at Lucasfilm Animation," the Ahsoka creator said from the exhibition in Booth 2913 at the Lucasfilm Pavilion. "Fans have embraced our work in a way that no one could have predicted – well, maybe one person did. George Lucas always believed in animation and believed in our team. He said, 'Dare to be great,' and that's what we've done for the last 20 years. I hope we do it for 20 more."

It's official, the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will premiere on December 10! Up until now, we'd only known that the episodes were dropping sometime that month, but we were given the welcome update when the cast and crew unveiled the first trailer at SDCC 2025.

"Season 2 is about Percy trying to hold all of his life together as it’s breaking and changing… your typical middle school experience," executive producer Dan Shotz explained to fans during the Disney Plus show's Hall H showcase. Cast members Charlie Bushnell, Aryan Simhadri, Leah Jeffries, and Walker Scobell were also in attendance.

GamesRadar+ was in Ballroom 20 earlier, helping celebrate the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender with some of the cast and creatives behind the beloved franchise. Not only did we get an official release date for upcoming film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender ("We can't show you anything from this yet," said franchise co-creator Bryan Konietzko, to audible sighs from the audience), we were also treated to a first look at new TV series Avatar: Seven Havens.

Starring the voice talents of Steven Yeun, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza, Eric Nam, and Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, it's set to center on a new Earthbending hero Pavi, her mentor Jae, and their feline-like friend.

Deadpool & Wolverine was released during SDCC 2024, and the Marvel movie had a big presence at the event – with Disney even splurging out on an elaborate Wade Wilson-themed drone demonstration. It's no surprise, then, that there's nods to The Fantastic Four: First Steps there this year, since the movie about Marvel's First Family landed in cinemas today (July 24).

We're loving the see-through mannequin they used to display Sue Storm's costume, and check out The Thing's beard!

Godolkin's finest spotted at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Fans of The Boys spin-off Gen V should how tight a little longer for exciting announcements, however, since the show's panel isn't until tomorrow afternoon!

LEGO has outdone itself this year, with a full-scale model of the Convention Center on the floor. We're loving the attention to detail (look at those long lines!) and the West Coast-style trees.

Matthew Rhys is set to voice Dinosaurus in Invincible season 4, Robert Kirkman has revealed. During his panel in Room 6BCF, the writer unveiled a first look at the character design, too.

The Americans star's involvement in the hit Prime Video show was announced last week. At the time, fans were speculating that it could be voicing Thragg, a major antagonist from the comics, since Kirkman teased his debut in the fourth chapter at the same time.

"It would certainly be weird if [Thragg] didn't show up in the show," Kirkman said (via Variety). "I mean, I don't know. It's so tough. Here's what I'll say: He's been cast and he's amazing." Guess we'll have to wait a little while longer to find out who is voicing Thragg, then...

Fresh from his fight with Marvel's First Family in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Galactus looks to be enjoying the convention floor. Actors have been known to sneak into SDCC and the like in cosplay disguises before, but something tells us that's not Ralph Ineson perusing the comic book booths.

Unfortunately, we've not managed to spot the Devourer of Worlds ourselves yet. But Marvel shared video footage of the epic effort on their social media channels, so we could all mask in his bright purple glory...

We're seated for the Twisted Metal panel now, in which cast members Stephanie Beatriz, Anthony Carrigan, who's playing "Tommy Wiseau-lookalike" Calypso, Joe Seanoa, and Anthony Mackie are revving up our excitement for the soon-to-be released season 2.

As part of the presentation, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith gave us a sneak peek at the new episodes. In one clip, Sweet Tooth tries to teach Stu how to kill well in the wastes. They surprise a group by Stu pretending to be under attack before they kill them all – but Stu looks to have not taken Sweet Tooth's advice on board, and fails to hit any of their adversaries' major organs. The latter explains to go for the "grapes, the apple, or the banana." The dying man mistakes Sweet Tooth for notorious killer "Big Baby," which Sweet Tooth does not care for. They kill the man, and Sweet Tooth tells Stu they have a baby to kill.

Another reel kicks off with John Doe complaining about not having any memories, before admitting that he might end up in a worse-off place if he were to get them back. Then they're suddenly attacked before Axel – the character with two giant wheels attached to his arms – rolls through fire with a terrifying grin.

As part of Collider's Directors on Directing panel, Rob Reiner (as mockumentary filmmaker Marty Di Bergi) unveiled the first trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues – and oof, it's brimming with awkward comedy.

Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are back as Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls as the titular band seek out a new drummer. (If you can cast your minds back 41 years, the original movie, This Is Spinal Tap, concluded with R.J Parnell's sticksman Mick Shrimpton exploding on stage).

First, though, they've got to come back together since now, apparently, Derek is in the crypto business, David performs in a mariachi group, and Nigel moonlights at a local pub on the reg after his shifts at a cheese shop. And what better way to wrangle them than a reunion court in New Orleans.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 time now, as the Blumhouse horror sequel descends upon Hall H. Cast members Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Theodus Crane, and Teo Briones, producer Jason Blum, and director Emma Tammi are all in attendance.

Appearing via video message, Matthew Lillard told attendees that he feels an "unbelievable amount of pride" getting to play the villainous William Afton. "I know how much this character means to this fanbase," he continued.

Later, Lillard's former Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich (yes, he's officially in the movie!) teased his yet-to-be named character: "I will say, I play somebody with a very particular and specific past, and somebody who has a deep emotional tie to what's going on. Other than that, I'm not really allowed to say. I'll defer to your lawyer."

"Yo, bro, I need a job," Ulrich jokes about how he came to reunite with Lillard in a different horror franchise.

"If the first movie was a home invasion, the second is a town invasion," The Strangers: Chapter 2 director Renny Harlin teases of the horror sequel over in Ballroom 20. "The Strangers are among us, and they could be anyone."

Check out the exclusive clip rolled out for SDCC attendees below...

Prime Video's new Critical Role-inspired TV show The Mighty Nein got an official release date earlier today, as well as an exciting first look. And if that's not all, its guest stars were also confirmed, and it's quite the star-studded list.

Robbie Daymond (Jujutsu Kaisen), Rahul Kohli (The Fall of the House of Usher), Auli'i Cravalho (Moana), Ming-Na Wen (Agents of SHIELD), Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog), Alan Cumming (X-Men 2), Jonathan Frakes, Mark Strong, and Tim McGraw are all set to voice characters in the upcoming animated series.

The Toxic Avenger: Unrated and Radioactive panel is well underway with stars Elijiah Wood, Peter Dinklage, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, writer/director Macon Blair, and legendary Troma co-founder Loyd Kaufman.

Wood says that his character Fritz, a new character that is not in the original 1984 film, is "unlike anything I've ever played."

The panel concluded with a clip of Dinklage's Winston Gooze being chased and gunned down. Fritz tells his underlings to get rid of him. They dump Dinklage in a toxic vat and there's an overwhelming transformation montage as he becomes the Toxic Avenger – but we don't see the final result.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge, and Digman! co-creator Andy Samberg have all taken the stage at the Comedy Central Animation panel.

Some standout moments from the panel include Parker and Stone admitting they've never pitched a live-action South Park project because, "I don’t know if watching a little kid getting hit by a bus and dying every week," as well as the duo admitting they still don't know what episode is going to air next week as a follow-up to the controversial one that dropped last night. "It's very stressful," Parker said.

Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Mike Judge reveal they talked about doing a Beavis and Butthead and South Park crossover "a long, long time ago" around the "second or third season. The idea was to have Beavis and Butthead babysit Cartman.

SDCC - Day 2

Happy Friday! The opening day of SDCC certainly brought the goods, whether it was a surprise Spinal Tap 2 trailer, plenty of South Park chatter, and a look at Critical Role's new Prime Video series.

So, how do we follow that? There's plenty to take in on Day 2 of San Diego Comic-Con. Here are some of today's highlights, which we'll be covering live from the convention floor and here on GamesRadar+:

  • Cartoon Network Studios: Cartoon Cartoons Animated Shorts Showcase (10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern/6:00 PM BST)
  • Outlander (10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern/6:00 PM BST)

  • Dexter: Resurrection (5:00 PM Pacific/8:00 PM Eastern/01:00 AM BST)
  • Tron: Ares (5:30 PM Pacific/8:30 PM Eastern/01:30 AM BST)

Among the extensive list of panels at SDCC today, the one we're most excited about is Gen V season 2.

The follow-up to The Boys college-set spin-off is surely going to be just as bloody and brutal as its Prime Video big brother.

To help whet the appetite, showrunner Michele Fazekas and the cast will be in attendance during the panel. No word yet on if The Boys Eric Kripke will be there, although it wouldn't be a Comic-Con without a few big surprises, would it? We really want to hear more about the Vought Rising show too...

Are Marvel and DC at SDCC 2025?

Traditionally, Marvel has a huge presence inside Hall H. We can all remember last year's shocking Robert Downey Jr., and it was proof enough that the MCU could still break the internet with just a single announcement.

This year, however, Marvel Studios is nowhere to be seen. That's largely due to the focus on filming for 2026 projects such as Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Expect Kevin Feige and company to return at next year's Comic-Con with a Hulk-sized selection of big reveals.

As for DC, James Gunn is fresh off a soaring success as Superman kickstarted the DCU. This year, the focus is on Peacemaker season 2 although, again, we anticipate DC will have a far larger presence next year.

Remember, Fantastic Four: First Steps is out now. So even if Marvel isn't at SDCC, there's plenty to talk about. If you've already seen the Marvel Phase 6 movie, we have spoiler-filled breakdowns on the Fantastic Four ending and Fantastic Four post-credits scene. There's also plenty of Fantastic Four Easter eggs to dive into, too.

We're just a few hours away from the first headline panel of the day. That would be the Cartoon Network Studios' Animated Shorts Showcase.

Those of you into Outlander should also keep an eye out as there's a panel for its eighth in final season at 10:00 AM Pacific. An hour later, the panel for Outlander prequel Blood of my Blood begins. It's all going on in the Fraser clan at the moment. I've been sneakily getting invested in the show since my partner picked it back up so I'm hoping we at least get a season 8 release date today.

A (sad) reminder: SDCC 2025 panels aren't streamed online. No, a grainy camera recording doesn't count. Naughty, naughty.

So, you'll need to be with us tonight and on Total Film's Twitter account for all the latest from Hall H and beyond. We've got panel updates, photos, and quotes galore to share in the coming hours.

Speaking of photos, here's our US Managing Editor Rollin Bishop getting a little too close for comfort with Predator: Badlands' titular hunter.

Ahead of the show's Hall H presentation on Saturday, HBO Max has revealed a new poster for Peacemaker season 2 – and it's an predictably star-spangled affair.

The colorful artwork sees John Cena's titular antihero standing proud and center, as the likes of John Economos (Steve Agee), Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) flank him on either side. Check it out below.

Alongside the post, the streamer confirmed that the first official trailer for the second chapter will drop during the panel tomorrow (July 26). We can hardly wait to see what James Gunn and co have got in store for us come August 21!

Good morning San Diego (and good evening to all of our readers across the pond), it's GamesRadar+ entertainment writer Megan Garside here, ready to guide you through the second official day of SDCC 2025.

Day two has officially kicked off with three panels taking place as we speak; Cartoon Network Studios: Cartoon Cartoons Animated Shorts Showcase over in Indigo Ballroom, the Outlander panel in Hall H, and Resident Alien season 4 in Ballroom 20.

Then an hour later, Outlander festivities will continue in Hall H with Outlander: Blood of my Blood, the Upload panel will take place in 6DE, and Phineas and Ferb will take over from Cartoon Network in Indigo Ballroom!

Outlander panel

The Outlander panel proved to be an emotional one, which is not a surprise as Outlander will conclude with its upcoming eighth season.

Stars Sam Heughan, Maril Davis, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin were in attendance, and Heughan said that SDCC 2025 "might be our last Comic-Con." Unfortunately, star Caitríona Balfe couldn't be there but sent in a video message for fans.

The cast spoke about what it was like filming the last season. Maril Davis said she broke down into tears during the final table read, purely because of how long the team has worked together. "It's been a career-defining moment for all of us. It was bittersweet, but the most memorable," said the star.

However, it looks like Outlander will go out with a bang, as the season's trailer was shown in Hall H, followed by a loose release date. Outlander season 8 will premiere sometime in early 2026 on Starz. After the trailer played, Davis said, "I as a fan was very satisfied," with the final episode, and Rankin added, "It’s more Outlander. Just Mega, XL version."

But that's not all, as now it's time for the Outlander: Blood of my Blood in Hall H!

Now Starz has dropped the Outlander season 8 trailer for all to see. The official logline reads, "Every promise, every sacrifice, every moment has led to this." A we know, the final season will adapt Diana Gabaldon's ninth book in the Outlander series titled, 'Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.' The season will premiere on Starz early next year.

Check out the trailer below!

Now it's time for upcoming series Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The show acts as a prequel to Outlander and tells the love story of Jamie Fraser's parents, set in 18th century Scotland. The series will also explore how the parents of Claire Beauchamp met during World War I in England.

The Outlander: Blood of My Blood panel has opened with four bagpipe players performing in Hall H.

The panel has confirmed that Outlander: Blood of My Blood will have two-episode premiere on August 8th, which makes sense as the series will focus on two different couples in two different time periods. From this, it looks like each episode might focus on each couple.

Outside at Comic-Con, we've spotted Peacemaker's best friend and loyal sidekick, Eagly, on the streets of San Diego. Check it out below!

Peacemaker season 2 is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the weekend. Now that DC boss James Gunn has confirmed that the quantum unfolding chamber introduced in Peacemaker is going to be a key part of the universe moving forward, all eyes are on John Cena's hilarious hero.

The DC show has already teased the upcoming season this weekend. In fact, the HBO Max show has shared some great new Peacemaker season 2 posters, including the one below.

Don't forget that Peacemaker season 2 will host its own panel tomorrow at 3:30 PM PT over at Hall H (That's 6:30 PM ET and 11:30 PM BST).

The second lot of panels of the day have just closed out. Here are the highlights:

Outlander: Blood of My Blood confirmed a 2 episode premiere on August 8, Matthew B. Roberts said the team was talking about ideas for the prequel as early as Outlander season 4, and the writer also confirmed that we'll meet Uncle Lambert in the show, and Baby Claire may be seen. Plus, Outlander star Graham McTavish made a special appearance during the Q&A section.

Over at the Indigo Ballroom, the Phineas and Ferb panel confirmed that a new batch of episodes will release on Disney Plus in 2026.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Now it's time for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon panel in Hall H!

The panel is wasting no time as the trailer for season 3 has just been shown. The clip opens with a Spanish version of 'House of the Rising Sun' by The Animals, playing in the background, which is certainly fitting as the season takes place in Spain.

And the stars have arrived! Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are here...

As well as David Zabel, Greg Nicotero, and Scott M. Gimple!

Creator David Zabel describes the series as a "road show" and says it has been exciting to constantly reinvent it by moving to new places. Showrunner Scott Gimple adds that they used to reinvent the main show, The Walking Dead, every 8 episodes, but they don't have to do that with TWD: Daryl Dixon as the series can "cross borders."

As for Daryl, star Norman Reedus says his character was "pretty fucked up" by the end of season 2, but it doesn't look like things will get easier for him as Zabel says he is immediately thrown into new conflicts as soon as episode 1.

Melissa McBride says that Carol is "having a little vacay" in Spain, and that her character has been learning Spanish.

On a more serious note, Norman Reedus says that Daryl and Carol rely on each other more in season 3, and that when she first arrived in France, Daryl couldn't believe his luck. Reedus adds that the reason why the two have such great chemistry on camera is because they are such great friends off camera.

But it looks like that chemistry may have competition as creator David Zabel says that season 3 will include a love story of sorts between two young people whose families are enemies. We're getting a Romeo and Juliet vibe over here.

BREAKING: David Zabel says The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 is in production with 8 episodes. It sounds like this will be the last season as the creator says the fourth season is the "last iteration" of the show and will complete Daryl and Carol's adventure in Spain.

Norman Reedus says it's "bittersweet" to end after 4 seasons, but thanks fans of the show. Melissa McBride adds that there is still a lot of story to tell, but she is excited for season 3.

When asked what he will miss most about Dixon, Reedus says he has put so much time into the character, but realises that to play one role for so long is very rare. The star adds, "Who knows what will happen after that."

And that's a wrap on The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon panel! Here are the highlights:

Now, let's head over to the Rick and Morty season 8 panel in Indigo Ballroom, followed by the Alien: Earth panel in Hall H at 1:25 PM PT (4:25 PM ET/9:25 PM BST).

Rick and Morty season 8

Now it's time for Rick and Morty season 8!

Stars Harry Belden (Morty), Sarah Chalke (Beth), Spencer Grammar (Summer), Dan Harmon (Bird Person) are here, as well as writer Scott Marder.

Sarah Chalke says the Season 8 finale of Rick and Morty is one of favorite episodes.

Plus, Dan Harmon has addressed DC boss James Gunn and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder's cameo in season 8, adding that he originally wanted Snyder to fight and beat up Jerry.

For those who don't know, Gunn and Snyder appear in Rick and Morty season 8 and argue over their very different takes on Superman. Snyder says to Gunn, "Just saw your new cut of Superman. Word of advice, he’s the Man of Steel, not the Man of Conversation," adding, “do more shots of him punching!” To which Gunn retaliates, but later apologizes, saying, "I shouldn't be lashing out at you, your biceps are the size of my head."

Star Keith David has just walked on stage to announce his new spin-off centred on his character President Curtis.

The spin-off will feature the voices of Jim Rash, who is playing a half-leprechaun character, and Stephanie Beatriz President Curtis’s chief of staff.

Dan Harmon describes the spin-off as "more X-Files than Doctor Who," adding, "It’s the level of sci-fi that would only be boring to Rick."

Keith David speaks on the upcoming spin-off: "Surprised doesn’t begin to describe. But I mean, to be in this universe, and you know, it’s always great being with Rick and Morty. Then to spin off and have your own and create another kind of universe where it’s less about the bureaucracy of government, then going above and below and beyond this world to do great things and to, you know, like Captain Kirk 'Conquer new worlds.'"

The spin-off is simply called, 'President Curtis.'

And that's it for the Rick and Morty season 8 panel. Here's the highlights:

  • The cast teased the season 8 finale
  • Dan Harmon said he originally wanted Zack Snyder to fight and beat up Jerry in the James Gunn and Snyder cameo episode
  • Upcoming spin-off series 'President Curtis' starring Keith David was announced

Alien: Earth panel

You may be wondering, "Wait, didn't the Alien: Earth panel start 30 minutes ago." And you're correct, Alien: Earth did kick off in Hall H at 1:25pm PT. However, the first episode is currently being shown, which means we won't hear anything from the panel until at least 2:30pm PT.

But don't worry as our man on the ground is seated in Hall H and will let us know what he has seen as soon as the episode finishes.

It's alive! The Alien: Earth panel, that is. We've just seen the first episode, and trust us, you're in for a treat.

The cast are now on stage alongside creator Noah Hawley, including stars Sydney Chandler and Timothy Olyphant.

Sydney Chandler says it's a dream to be the lead of an Alien show. "I keep pinching myself; it's surreal."

Now what we have been waiting for, Noah Hawley is talking about the creatures we will see in Alien Earth. Check out our tweet below.

As we know, the show kicks off when a spacecraft crash-lands on Earth, unleashing five deadly lifeforms on land. We know that the Xenomorph is part of that list, as well as Facehuggers, but the show will introduce some creatures that will be completely new to the franchise.

Chandler says she felt like a kid when she was being chased by the Xenemporth. "To have that feeling was such a gift.".

Because of the screening taking up over an hour of panel time, we're already on the Q&A section! Here's what has been asked so far:

If you could switch your mind with something, what would you do? Sydney Chandler answers "bird," and Timothy Olyphant says that's a curious choice given the term "bird brain."

Does TV allow more horror? Or movies? Creator Noah Hawley says it really just needs to work as a drama with genre elements on top of that. Olyphant adds that some of the most riveting parts of the show are just scenes between two characters.

And that's it for Alien: Earth! Here are the highlights:

  • We watched the first episode of Alien: Earth
  • Creator Noah Hawley spoke more about the show's new creatures
  • Hawley there are no current plans for a Alien X Predator crossover for the show, but he is excited for Predator: Badlands.

The Long Walk panel

Now it's time for The Long Walk, the upcoming horror movie based on the novel of the same name by the one and only Stephen King.

The Long Walk stars Mark Hamill, Charlie Plummer, Cooper Hoffman, Josh Hamilton, Ben Wang, David Thor Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Judy Greer, and Roman Griffin Davis

The movie follows teens as they participate in a grueling, high-stakes contest where they must continuously walk or be shot by a member of their military escort.

Stars David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, and Mark Hamill are in the building, alongside writer J.T. Mollner and prodcuer Roy Lee.

Writer JT Mollner on adapting the Stephen King novel: "Well, what I do first is I go through the entire book and I read it a number of times, and I underline things that I want to keep dialogue I'd like to keep, moments I'd like to keep. And the biggest challenge here was the fact that I just underlined so much."

"It's a really great book, and it's miraculous that he wrote it at that age. But we had to lose things... We wanted to keep the DNA and the themes that that Stephen King had baked into his original novel, and even though he was writing it about specific things at the time, feel like the relevance is, you know, generational, and so wanted to make sure we had that that beauty and that love and and story of friendship and characters and also brutality and hopelessness and terror."

Mark Hamill is opening up about how his upbringing in the military has influenced his role.

"I did my last two years in high school in Japan. And even though my dad was in the Navy, we were on the Marine base. And I walk across the parking lot, seeing the officers putting these guys through their paces and blazing hot sun, they were just brutal parking orders... like if you vomited, they forced you to eat it. Yeah, I saw that. I hit my eyes. It was horrible."

However, this unsettling experience meant Hamill knew exactly how to approach his The Long Walk character, The Major. "But when Francis [Lawrence] talked to me, I said, I know who this guy is, because I've seen him first-hand."

Mark Hamill is now talking about all of the other villain roles he has played throughout his career, adding that the only reason he auditioned to play Joker was to prove others wrong.

"I have always said, one of the reasons I think it worked out for me to play the Joker was right around that time they announced that Michael Keaton was going to play Batman, and all the fans freaked out. 'Oh, he's Mr. Ball. He's a comedic actor before they've even seen it.' Now, within weeks of that, they asked me to come in and audition for Joker. And I thought, normally, I have performance anxiety."

"If you really want something, I tell actors this, even if you don't feel that way, act aloof, act like you don't care, because if you there's a certain neediness that can bleed through and make people uncomfortable. But with the Joker, I thought if they freaked out about Mr. Bob being Batman. How are they going to freak out about Luke Skywalker being the Joker?"

The star then thanked Mike Flanagan for re-motivating him and giving him his first live-action villain role in The Fall of the House of Usher.

The first 22 minutes of the movie are now being shown. And that's all for The Long Walk Panel! Here are the highlights:

  • Writer JT Mollner explains how he adapted Stephen King's novel
  • Mark Hamill talks about his military upbringing affecting his character and why he felt comfortable auditioning for villain roles after playing Joker
  • The first 22 minutes of the movie are shown

Now we have a bumper pack hour or so with the Gen V season 2 panel, which has already kicked off in Ballroom 20, King of the Hill at 4:00 PM PT (7:00 PM ET/00:00 AM BST) in Indigo Ballroom, followed by Predator: Badlands in Hall H at 4:15 PM PT (7:15 PM ET/00:15 AM BST).

Gen V season 2

The Gen V season 2 panel has kicked off in Ballroom 20!

P. J. Byrne is hosting the panel, totally in character as Adam Bourke from The Boys, and says the Russo brothers are afraid of him.

The cast of Gen V is here! There's Jaz Sinclair who plays Marie, London Thor and Derek Lu who both play Jordan, and Maddie Phillips who plays Cate.

Newcomer Hamish Linklater rounds out the panel. Linklater joins the cast this season as the new dean of Godolkin.

The official Gen V season 2 trailer is now being shown. The clip is said to show Annie (aka Starlight from The Boys) giving Marie a mission. Meanwhile, all of the young Supes are back at Godolkin University, ready for their sophomore year under a new and sadistic Dean Cypher.

Wicked star Ethan Slayter has also made an appearance in the new trailer.

Cate star Maddie Phillips is now speaking. Her character caused major chaos in season 1 and has since shown up in The Boys as one of Homelander's evil Supe puppets.

When asked if she prefers playing a villain or hero, Phillips says she doesn’t see her character as either. However, the star admits that it's way more fun to play the manic and psychotic side.

Phillips also teases a new face at God U: “There’s a new character… we will meet at the school who has the dumbest power and she’s really upset about that.”

Gen V and The Boys creator Eric Kripke is now in the room!

We wonder if he will tease anything about The Boys season 5 or upcoming spin-off show Vought Rising...

Meanwhile, Maddie Phillips is talking about the difficulties in playing characters with no hands, after Marie blew Cate's hands to bits in the Gen V season 1 finale. The star says had to limit her caffeine intake because her hands were shaking too much, and her character Cate isn't supposed to have hands after all.

Bur Marie star Jaz Sinclair doesn't seem to feel bad about it as she says she felt as though she was in Avatar the Last Airbender and felt so cool summoning the blood for her powers

The cast have shared who they could cosplay as on the floor of Comic-Con. Maddie Phillips (Cate) said Harley Quinn, Derek Lu (Jordan) said Mark Grayson, London Thor (Jordan) said Raven from Teen Titans, and Jaz Sinclair (Marie) said Ellie from The Last of Us.

Now back to Gen V because the cast and crew are teasing the new season. Producer Michelle Fazekas teases that some characters says that some characters are going to "level up their superpowers" in season 2, and London Thor warns, “Get ready for a lot more action, a lot more blood."

Don't worry as it sounds like there's till room for a love story. When asked about Marie and Jordan's 'throuple' (between Sinclair's Marie and both Lu and Thor's Jordan), Sinclair says, "I don't know if throuple is the right term," and Thor adds, "I praise Jaz for being able to switch back and fourth mid-take."

The new Gen V season 2 trailer is here. Watch it below!

A sneak peek of The Boys season 5 is now being shown.

The clip shows Homelander in a great position of power, addressing a crows, saying, "this is a safer, more god fearing nation," but the people look scared. We also get a look at a very angry Billy Butcher, as well as Soldier Boy in a cryogenic freezer. However, the most exciting part is the first look at Supernatural star Jared Padalecki.

That's all for Gen V season 2. Here are the highlights:

Predator: Badlands

Now it's time for Predator: Badlands!

Everyone in Hall H received a Predator mask on arrival. Check it out below.

Predator: Badlands director Dan Trachtenberg is here, alongside stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

Trachtenberg can't quite believe he is here, admitting he has always been a big supporter of SDCC and has attended as a fan many times.

"Whenever I would think about making a movie, I would think like, 'Oh, this, might play a Comic Con. Maybe I should do this' but always feeling like if I go, it's got to be for something that really matters. And let me tell you, what we have to show you guys today, and what this movie is, is truly awesome, and something I'm really proud of, and I'm so glad that I get to be here with this movie, with you guys."

Dan Trachtenberg is talking about his experience making Predator movies; Prey, Predator: Killer of Killers, and now Predator: Badlands. "When Prey came out and people dug it, I started to realize, 'Oh no, I gotta figure out if I'm gonna make more of these,'" says the director.

Trachtenberg says that some pieces from Killer of Killers got left out of the movie, but he wants to show it to the audience now.

"Unfortunately, some bits of killer killers that were left on the cutting room floor, but recently, we were able to sneak it back in," said the director. "So we wanted to show you guys first what that is. That was Danny Glover and Arnold Schwarzenegger."

It has been confirmed that the scene Trachtenberg is describing will be added to Killer of Killers on streaming tonight as a post-credit scene.

Now onto Badlands, the movie primarily focuses on the relationship between Elle Fanning's android and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi's Predator. However, Trachtenberg says that the scene where we see Predator and Elle Fanning's character being strapped together was actually inspired by Chewbacca and C-3PO from Star wars.

As for Predator, Trachtenberg says that everything is essentially trying to kill the Predator all the way through the movie. "He's essentially the Dutch of this movie," as he's being hunted by everything he's hunting.

As for the design of the Predator suit, the director says it is more practical with the face open, and in turn, makes the movie unique. "This time, we really wanted to make sure that we could go to emotional places that have never happened in previous films."

The first 15 minutes of Predator Badlands are now being shown. The clip shows Predator entering a cave where he and another Predator, his brother, fight in a trial of sorts. However, the movie's main Predator loses but is not killed. Instead, he is told that he must prove himself to their father. To do so, Predator sets out to hunt "the unkillable Kalisk" on the planet Genna, a beast that even his father is afraid of.

And that's a wrap on the panel. Here are the highlights:

  • Dan Trachtenberg announces that a post-credits scene will be added to Predator: Killer of Killers tonight
  • The director says he wanted to make a movie where the Predator won
  • The first 15 minutes of Predator: Badlands was shown

Tron: Ares panel

To finish off the day we have Tron Ares in Hall H, and there's a bunch of Ares bots swarming the venue.

The stars are here, Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Jeff Bridges, and more, alongside director Joachim Rønning.

The director shares what drew him to the project: "Well, it's Tron. So like, you know, I was immediately drawn into it. I love the franchise, the movies, I think, in many ways, are masterpieces. And, you know, I always dreamt about making science fiction. I think the topic is super interesting, and they had a twist to it."

"I felt that I could bring something new to the table, but the bar is really high and, but it's been an amazing, amazing journey. And it's a movie for cinema. You know, that's why I always try to do that. But with Tron, you know, making a movie like Tron, it's like the closest thing to a guaranteed theatrical release somehow. So then I get to work with these people, and it's, it's been just one hell of a ride, to be honest."

Star Jared Leto, a self confessed Tron nerd, says "At the end of the day is that I am an official Tron super fan. If I wasn't on the stage, I would be in the audience, for sure, watching this panel right now, cheering like all these crazy people out here."

The star looks back to his childhood: "It was 1982 video games were exploding and films were a huge part of my life when I was a kid, and this movie just grabbed a hold of me. It took me to a place that I never been before... A lot of that had to do with the genius of this guy, am I right? And a lot of that had to do with the genius this guy over here is one of my heroes, Jeff Bridges."

Footage is now being shown of a light cycle chase scene between Ares and Athena. The clip shows the two in the real world looking for Greta Lee's character.

More exclusive footage! In the next clip, we get a deeper look at the new and immersive digital world, created by Evan Peters' character Julian Dillinger. Racing against a 30-minute time to 'de-resolution', Ares and Greta Lee's Eve are seen trying to escape the digital world, with Athena's drones fast on their heels. The chase sequence that follows is one of the bigger ones in the movies, according to director Joachim Rønning. The clip ends with Ares and Eve running for the transfer portal to send Eve back to the real world, with Ares having gone against his directive to "delete" her.

The panel is ending with a screening of Nine Inch Nails' "As Alive as You Need Me to Be" – the first single from their Tron: Ares soundtrack. Leto has high praise for NIN, noting that "the music for Tron has always been such an important part. And I mean that last... Daft Punk. I mean, what an incredible soundtrack. When we were talking about music for this film, there was really only very few people you could think about that could fill those shoes and Nine Inch Nails absolutely did it. I mean, they made music that's going to live a lifetime."

And that's a wrap on the panel. Here are the highlights:

  • Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Jeff Bridges joined director Joachim Rønning on the stage.
  • Leto revealed the extent of his Tron fandom, declaring himself "an official Tron superfan" (official status unconfirmed)
  • Two exclusive clips showed off chases in the film's real and digital world, featuring Leto's Ares, Jodie Turner-Smith's Athena and Greta Lee's Eve.
  • The music video for Nine Inch Nails' "As Alive as You Need Me to Be" close out the panel.

And that's a wrap on Day 2 of our San Diego Comic-Con 2025 coverage. And what a day it was. Earlier we learnt that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will return for a fourth and final season, lucky attendees got to see the first episode of Alien: Earth, and exclusive footage from Predator: Badlands and Tron: Ares, and we got new trailers for The Long Walk and Gen V season 2 (alongside news that Erin Moriarty is joining the cast). Now all that's left to do is to look ahead to tomorrow...

SDCC SATURDAY PREVIEW

Tomorrow might just be the biggest day of SDCC 2025, with major movie star power in the shape of Ryan Gosling, for Project hail Mary. Plus, the sole MCU or DCU panel at this year's Comic-Con is dedicated to Peacemaker season 2. Thrillingly, despite originally being part of the DCEU, season 2 is a direct sequel to this summer's Superman, and DC boss James Gunn will be on hand to explain what is and isn't canon yet again (probably).

And Demon Slayer stepping into the slot that Marvel usually earmarks, speaks to the rising profile of anime in the West. Will Hall H reach the same fever pitch as last year when Robert Downey Jr. walked out on stage as Doctor Doom for the first time? We'll have to wait and see...

  • Coyote vs. Acme - 10AM PT - Hall H - Director and cast expected
  • Star Trek Universe - 12:30PM PT - Hall H - Alex Kurtzman and cast expected
  • Project Hail Mary - 2:15PM PT - Hall H - Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Ryan Gosling expected
  • Spartacus: House of Ashur - 3PM PT - Indigo Ballroom - Showrunner and cast expected
  • Peacemaker - 3:30PM PT - Hall H - James Gunn and John Cena expected
  • Anne Rice's Immortal Universe - 4:30PM PT - Ballroom 20 - Producers and cast expected
  • Demon Slayer - 5:45PM PT - Hall H - Creators and cast expected

Hello and welcome back to SDCC 2025! It's the biggest day of the convention today, so strap in for updates on James Gunn and Peacemaker season 2. We can also expect news on Demon Slayer, Star Trek, and much more besides. This time last year, Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Doctor Doom – so let's see if anything as seismic goes down this year...

Up first today is a panel for Coyote vs. Acme, AKA the scrapped Looney Tunes movie that has been rescued by Ketchup Entertainment. As a taster ahead of the panel, some new pictures from the film have hit the internet:

The first news out of the panel is that Coyote vs. Acme will be getting a theatrical release this August 28! That means you only have around a month to wait to see the movie. Not bad for a previously binned film...

Those in attendance in Hall H have been treated to the first scene from the Looney Tunes movie. According to Discussing Film, it shows Wile E. Coyote looking at blueprints as a montage of all the ways he's been hurt in old cartoons flashes through his mind, accompanied, fittingly enough, by Johnny Cash's "Hurt."

In some exciting news for old school Looney Tunes fans, it's also been confirmed that Bugs Bunny will make an appearance in Coyote vs. Acme!

A new poster for Coyote vs. Acme has also arrived, and it's giving us classic Looney Tunes vibes:

Elsewhere at Comic-Con, we've been checking out the Tron: Ares booth! It's certainly very stylish...

Uh oh... Galactus has joined Marvel's First Family at the Fantastic Four costume display!

We also got to check out David Corenswet's Superman's costume! Up, up, and away...

Pink goes good with green on the SDCC floor! There's not long left to wait for Wicked: For Good, so you hopefully have enough time to build these Lego sets while you prepare to journey back to Oz.

We're seated in Hall H ready for the Star Trek Universe panel! Keep it right here for all the intergalactic updates as they come.

The Star Trek panel is ongoing, but we also have an update on the Rick and Morty spin-off. Keith David has posted a video in character to promote the show, which is titled President Curtis.

"I can't wait for Rick and Morty fans to see what's coming," he says. Neither can we!

Excitingly, in Hall H it was revealed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will eventually show us "Kirk's first day on the job" as Enterprise Captain.

"We started having this idea of those great lost eras that exist in all of our head, canon and ancillary canon, but had never really gotten much of a chance to be on the screen," co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman said of Strange New Worlds' initial plans. "So what we've tried to do is try to reach back to Pike's Enterprise and instill in it the kind of storytelling values we have today and bring us right up to Kirk's first day on the job. And that is our hope, and that is our plan. And we plan to get you there."

In more Marvel news, X-Men actor Rebecca Romijn has admitted she doesn't know if she has anymore Avengers: Doomsday scenes left to shoot.

"[I'm] not quite sure [if Mystique's scenes have all been filmed]. They haven't finished writing it." she told The Hollywood Reporter. "They keep everything close to the vest themselves in an effort to keep everything under wraps."

We're also learning more about the upcoming Starfleet Academy show: "Our rule on the show was the teachers have to be as interesting and as fun as the cadets," said Alex Kurtzman. "So if you've seen Harry Potter, obviously the teachers are a huge part of it, and they're just as entertaining, and that was really how we wanted to build it."

The panel closed with the first trailer for Starfleet Academy, which gives us our first look at the upcoming show. Watch it above.

"I mean, this cast, you guys, I got to tell you, to a person, unbelievable, unbelievable, like, sitting in the editing room having just an incredible amount of options," said Alex Kurtzman. "They're so excellent, excellent, every single one of them. What's really incredible was that we have Paul Giamatti, we have Tatiana Maslany, we have Bob [Picardo], we have Tig [Notaro], we have Gina [Yashere]. We have all these incredible actors who are veterans, and then we have some people who literally, I'm not kidding you, two weeks before we started shooting, we pulled Sandro [Rosta] out of a drama school."

And that's a wrap on the Star Trek panel!

Ryan Gosling has entered Hail H for the Project Mary panel! He's joined by directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, writer Drew Goddard, and author of the Project Mary novel Andy Weir.

The first five minutes of Project Hail were shown at the panel. In the clip, Gosling wakes up from an induced coma and immediately struggles with the robot trying to help him. He flops around a bunch before trying to climb up to check on the others with him...only to discover that they're all dead. He looks out the window into the unknown and punches the window.

In another scene shown at the Project Hail Mary panel, Ryland (Ryan Gosling) is approached by government officials at the middle school where he teaches because he wrote a paper about lifeforms not based on water. They have one and want him to look at it. We then cut to him in a quarantine room in a suit. He goes through a bunch of tests, jokes about how nothing is working, then he does discover: it's alive! Oh, but it's died.

Two more scenes were shown at the Project Hail Mary panel. In the first, Ryland (Gosling) arrives at Tau Ceti, but his engine immediately cuts off and he's sent into zero gravity. He uses a scope to check out the star, and notices something strange in what he's observing. The computer warns something is approaching: the alien ship we first saw in the trailer comes up. Ryland goes out to investigate the ship.

In the second clip, Ryland has his first meeting with the alien, which mimes a message through a clear rock door. Gosling takes it as a warning to go back to the ship, so gives the alien and thumbs up and says goodbye.

Now, it's almost time for Peacemaker! Stay tuned as James Gunn takes to the Hall H stage to give us all the updates on the next DCU project. This is sure to be the biggest panel of the convention, so you don't want to miss a second!

The panel is in full swing, and John Cena is in full costume!

"The show happens a month after the events in Superman," James Gunn says. "There's a lot of the characters [who] return in [this] season of Peacemaker. In the very first episode, we have Guy Gardner, but there's a lot more as we go down the line. But it is definitely a part of the DCU now."

The first full trailer for Peacemaker season 2 is here, and it's pretty wild. Introduced by James Gunn himself, the trailer shows a new Peacemaker. "I don't want to be a joke anymore," he says. "I want to be a real hero."

Meanwhile, Rick Flag Sr. is hunting him down for killing his son in The Suicide Squad. Then comes the multiverse shenanigans. It looks like, in an alternate world, Peacemaker has everything he wants – but of course he can't stay.

Some exclusive footage was also shown behind closed doors. We see Harcourt at a bar, getting sarcastic with some patron hitting on her. She then fights a whole bunch of drunks, breaking bones and doing some acrobatic moves, dishing it out as much as she gets. But, it ends with her getting kicked in the face. Ouch.

Some more footage has been shown! Tim Meadows and Steve Agee are surveilling John Cena and Danielle Brooks. Meadows' character claims to have bird blindness. They have a long conversation about how he can't tell the difference between a hummingbird and an eagle. Cena is telling Brooks' character about the quantum unfolding chamber and basically has a breakdown about it.

James Gunn, surely the king of needle drops, has revealed that Peacemaker season 2 has his favorite soundtrack ever. "I mean, first of all, I think the soundtrack this season is my favorite soundtrack I've ever done," he shares. "It's so good with so many bands I love. It is in line with the soundtrack from the first season, but it's a lot more modern bands, actually a lot more songs from the past, you know, 10-15, years or so."

And that's a wrap on Peacemaker! The show arrives this August 21, so there's not long left to wait.

There's still plenty more to come from today at SDCC. There are still panels for Demon Slayer, Anne Rice's Immortal Universe, and IT: Welcome to Derry on the schedule. As always, we'll be bringing you all the biggest news as it happens, right here.

During the Peacemaker panel, there was some debate over two super-pets: Krypto and Eagly. Personally, I think I'm a bigger fan of Krypto...

We're just a few minutes away from the Demon Slayer panel kicking off in Hall H! We're expecting to see some footage and special guests in attendance. The Infinity Castle movie is out now in Japan, but doesn't release in the UK and US until September – so this will have to tide us over until then.

First up, LiSA is singing the theme – and then we can expect a teaser. Buckle up...

A new visual for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been released!

The first 13 minutes of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle were shown during the panel. Gyomei in a graveyard (in what appears to be a flashback) reflecting on the master deciding to use himself as bait. We move to the end of last season with them falling through the castle. The hashira fight a bunch of low-level demons. An insect hashira stumbles across the Upper 2 that's been feeding on a bunch of women. He threatens her as she looks on in anger. The end!

And we're back! Later, the final day of SDCC will kick off. Though the convention continues, there is only one panel of note – actual George Lucas is scheduled to be in Hall H from 11am PDT to "explore the power of illustrated storytelling" and present a "sneak peek of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art", alongside Guillermo del Toro and Lucasfilm's Executive Design Director Doug Chiang. Curiously, the panel is hosted by Queen Latifah (despite 72+ hours of non-stop coverage, I'm pretty sure I'm not hallucinating all this). Keep your eyes peeled for any news out of that panel on GamesRadar+ tomorrow.

So, for now, all that's left is to wrap up this live blog. Without a major Marvel Studios presence, it was a quieter year for SDCC. But that doesn't mean there weren't some major announcements, from a new Peacemaker season 2 trailer, to Comic-Con exclusive glimpses at Predator: Badlands, Tron: Ares and Project Hail Mary. There was even news of a Rick and Morty spin-off, and word that legendary comic creator Frank Miller is returning for a Marvel/DC crossover that pits Old Man Logan Wolverine against the Dark Knight Returns Batman. Actual comic news at Comic-Con, who'd have thought!

Thanks for following along with us, and hope to see you again next year!
