Samurai swords and suspected Class A drugs seized during raids in Easington Colliery

Officers seized a selection of weapons and suspected Class A drugs during raids in County Durham.

Easington Neighbourhood Policing Team executed Magistrates' Search Warrants at two addresses in Barwick Street, Easington Colliery, on Tuesday morning.

During the raids, officers seized a quantity of suspected Class A drugs which has been sent off for testing along with a selection of samurai swords and knives.

Enquiries into the finds are ongoing with police thanking members of the community who helped identify the locations.

A spokesperson for Seaham and Easington Police said: "Officers from Easington Neighbourhood Policing Team executed Magistrates' Search Warrants at two addresses in Barwick Street, Easington Colliery, on Tuesday morning.

"A quantity of suspected Class A drugs was seized and has been sent off for testing.

"Officers also seized a selection of samurai swords and knives.

"Once again, our thanks go out to the community who support us in identifying these locations and concerns.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
