Samurai sword found in woods after 'rise in violence'

A samurai sword and craft knife were recovered by police during open land searches in Knowsley.

The sword was found during a search of Court Farm Woods in the Halewood area on Saturday ( February 12). Police said they found a samurai sword, other weapons and a stolen bike.

The force released a photograph of the sword and said the search was a response to a rise in anti-social behaviour (ASB) and violence in the area.

Police said: "Due to a recent rise in ASB/Violence offences, officers conducts an open land search in Halewood. A samurai sword was located along with other weapons. A stolen bike was also recovered. A letter drop was conducted which was received well Knowsley Council."

A craft knife found by police at Old Rough Park (Mer Pol)

On the same day police found a craft knife during a search of open land in Old Rough Park, Kirkby. Police were looking for hidden weapons and drugs.

Police said: "Officers conducted an open area search at the locality looking for secreted weapons and drugs. A craft knife has been located and disposed of."
