Samuel Saiz completes permanent Leeds United exit

Samuel Saiz’s Leeds United tenure has finally come to a permanent conclusion after a deal was agreed with La Liga’s Girona.

A fee between £2m and £3m is understood to have secured the services of a footballer who was neither wanted at Elland Road nor wanted to stay.

The 28-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Spanish club and ensures he remains in his homeland after an unsuccessful loan spell with Getafe in the second half of last season.

After 58 appearances and 10 goals since the summer of 2017, Saiz has departed Elland Road for good.

A club statement said: “Leeds United attacking midfielder Samuel Saiz has today joined La Liga outfit Girona for an undisclosed fee.

“The 28-year-old, who spent time on loan at Getafe last season, joined Leeds from Huesca in the summer of 2017 and departs Elland Road having made 58 appearances in all competitions.

“We wish Samu all the best for the future.”
