Samsung has finally confirmed that its folding phone, the Galaxy Fold, is going to be on sale in September following months of delays. But until then, there's another large Samsung phone release on the horizon.
This week, the South Korean company is set to unveil the new Note 10 smartphone at an event in New York.
From how phones are set to be released in the new range, to what power and specs to expect, here's everything we know so far about the Samsung Note 10.
Samsung S10 vs Note 10
It’s important to clarify the difference between the Samsung Galaxy S10 range and what will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
Both phones feature in the high-end Galaxy range created by Samsung. Whilst the S range is usually aimed at a more general audience, the Note devices are often positioned as the business person’s phone, featuring a larger screen and high-end tech features which will then make their way to the S series eventually.
This is similar to the way Huawei has the P series and the Mate series, with the Mate series focused as a business device.
Will there be a Samsung Note 10 Plus?
For the first time ever, Samsung could release three phones in the Note range: a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus or 10+, which will have a bigger screen and battery, alongside a normal Note 10 version. In addition, the company looks to also be releasing a 5G version, to go along with the Galaxy S10 5G that went on sale earlier this year
The YouTuber TechTalkTV tweeted out images of the 10+ a few weeks ago. Unlike the Galaxy S10+, the bigger Note version only has one front-facing camera lens, whilst it looks to be sporting three lenses on the back of the device.
How will the Samsung Note 10 look?
From the leaks we’ve seen so far, thanks to OnLeaks, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is going to be a big phone. Last year’s Note 9 had a 6.4-inch curved screen, but Samsung could push that even bigger with a 6.75-inch Plus version, as well as a 6.3-inch version.
It’s likely the two phones will have different camera setups too.

Both phones will feature Samsung’s curved edge-to-edge display and, given the size of the displays, it’s a good job Samsung will be including a stylus to make it easier to carry out tasks on the phones.
On the front, Samsung has removed the bezels and gone for a punch-hole camera in the centre of the phone screen, similar to the S10 range. We’re big fans of the punch-hole camera but there’s something about the centre positioning that we’re not so sure about – we’ll have to see how it looks in practice first.
Colour-wise, the phone is predicted to come in black and silver, though there is usually a third colour available. We’ll have to wait and see what that is.
How many cameras will the Samsung Note 10 have?
The Pro version of the new Note 10 is predicted to have four cameras, including a time-of-flight shooter for depth sensing, like the 5G version of the Samsung S10 and the recent Huawei P30 Pro.
Instead of being arranged in a horizontal format that Samsung usually favours, it appears the company has decided to switch things up by arranging the cameras in a vertical format.
The normal Note 10 appears to have only three lenses on the back, as it doesn’t seem to have the time-of-flight sensor.
Will the Samsung Note 10 have a headphone jack?
Unfortunately, Samsung appears to be retiring the headphone jack with the Note 10 range. At the bottom of the phone, there is a space for the S-Pen slot, microphone, loudspeaker grill and Type-C port, but no headphone jack.
If you’re looking for a new phone with a headphone jack, Google decided to keep this handy feature on the recent Google Pixel 3a release.
Inside the Samsung Note 10
In the US, the phone range is reportedly going to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, which promises to offer the best cellular performance and all-day battery life for premium devices, whilst in the UK and Europe, the phones will feature Samsung's own Exynos 9825 chip.
The company's first 7nm chip, it's supposed to offer higher efficiency and performance. Samsung teased the release of the new chip with a tweet saying, "Power evolved."
The normal Note 10 is expected to have 8GB of RAM and 25GB of storage, though the larger Note10+ could have a whopping 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. We tried out the OnePlus 6T McLaren phone last year which was one of the first devices in the UK to have even 10GB of RAM and it was extremely fast.
Battery-wise, the smaller Note is rumoured to come with a 3,600 mAh and the Note 10+ will naturally have a bigger battery, at around 4,300 mAh.
When is the Samsung Note 10 release date in the UK?
Samsung will unveil the new Note 10 phones on August 7. Last year, the company unveiled the Note 9 on August 8 and the phone was available to buy two weeks later on August 24, so it’s likely the new Note 10 will be available to buy on August 23, 2019.
As for cost, we’re not sure how much the phone will be priced at but given last year’s Note 9 was the first £1,000+ Samsung phone, it’s going to be expensive.
