• The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is now officially here — here's what we know
• Last-minute leaks ahead of Galaxy Unpacked reveal potential Galaxy Z Flip FE specs
• A case leak seems to confirm the existence of a Galaxy Z Flip FE model
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has just been unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked 2025. Here's what we need to know about the new flip phone, along with a price tag that's pricier than we expected
Foldables are expensive. While costs have dropped considerably since the original Samsung Galaxy Z Flip launched at $1,380 in 2020, the company’s latest model — the Galaxy Z Flip 6 — still starts at $1,099.
Plenty of people have been waiting for a cheaper model to try, and Samsung may be about to grant that wish. After denying plans of a cheaper foldable back in 2023, it seems like the company may finally have something very soon indeed, with Samsung seemingly pushing code out to an unreleased model with the code number of SM-F761.
This could well be the Samsung Galaxy Z FE, and it might be showing up at this week's Galaxy Unpacked July 2025 event. That's not random speculation, either — multiple leaks, including a big one just before the July 9 event, suggest a cheaper model is joining this year's Galaxy Z Flip 7.
How will the ‘Fan Edition’ of Samsung’s flip phone differ from the regular model? Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy Z Flip FE so far.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE price and release date
Initial rumors claiming a Galaxy Z Flip FE was coming seemed to suggest that Samsung wouldn't release the cheaper model alongside its other foldables — a new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected at the same time as the Z Flip 7. Instead, Korean media claimed a cheaper Flip would arrive “several months later” than the regular foldables.
That doesn't seem to be the case any more. Leaks from Roland Quandt at WinFuture.de — including a big specs drop just days before Samsung's July product launch — indicate the Galaxy Z Flip FE will be at the July 9 event. A phone case leak that appears designed for a Galaxy Z Flip FE also seems to suggest the model's launch is imminent.
So how much will the Galaxy Z Flip FE cost? The most recent pricing rumor we've heard puts the phone at 1 million Korean won. That works out at around $737 and over $350 cheaper than the cost of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 — the most recent flippable on sale.
Of course, regional pricing isn't always identical. So the Korean price tag isn't a true indicator of how much the Z Flip FE will cost in the U.S. and other countries. However this does bode well for a price discount, considering the Z Flip 6 starts at 1.49 million Won.
Rivals to Galaxy Z Flip 6 include the Motorola Razr line of foldable flip phones, with two of the 2025 models — the Razr Plus 2025 and Razr 2025 — starting at $999 and $699, respectively. Both of those prices are lower than the Galaxy Z Flip 6's cost, so that gives the Galaxy Z Flip FE a good target to shoot for.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE rumored specs
In his specs leak ahead of Galaxy Unpacked, Quandt posted key specs for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip FE. Here's how the two phones reportedly compare.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE design and display

CAD renders produced by OnLeaks and SammyGuru show a phone that looks remarkably like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, right down to the dual-camera array and oddly shaped cover display. That means a 3.4-inch external screen which flips back to reveal a 6.7-inch internal panel.
Quandt's leaked specs show a phone with the same screen size as the Galaxy Z Flip 7, though. That means a 6.9-inch main pain and a 4.1-inch cover display. (Some Galaxy Z Flip 7 specs claim the cover display will "only" grow to 4 inches.)
Going by the earlier SammyGuru report, the Galaxy Z Flip FE looks to be slightly less wide and a bit thicker than the standard model, with dimensions of 165.1 x 71.7 x 7.4mm, over the Z Flip 6’s 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm.
Another leak from PandaFlashPro claims that we'll see the phone come with an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus and a 120Hz display. That display will apparently have a test brightness of 1,900 nits, and potentially a 2,600 nit peak.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE performance and cameras
To reach a cheaper price, cuts have to be found somewhere, and the most likely area is in terms of performance. To that end, the SammyGuru report cited above says that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE will use last year’s Exynos 2400e chipset rather than something from Qualcomm.
The Exynos 2400e is a cut-back version of the Exynos 2400. But as we saw from its appearance in the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, it’s not a bad performer, only a little worse than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that powers the regular Samsung Galaxy S24. Of course, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on tap to get a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it's clear the Galaxy Z Flip FE wouldn't be able to deliver comparable CPU and GPU performance compared to Samsung's premium phones.
That said, it should be able to run Galaxy AI features, meaning buyers aren’t likely to miss out on much artificial intelligence-powered functionality, contrary to earlier reports. That should be the case even if a rumor that Samsung will turn to a MediaTek chip for the Z Flip FE turn out to be true.
A more recent report suggests that the Z Flip FE will come with 8GB of RAM, rather than 12GB, alongside 128GB and 256GB storage options. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 should come with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage in its base model, so that's an area where Samsung could be cutting back.
Renders seem to have confirmed a dual rear camera array will make a comeback, with leaks suggesting that the main camera will be able to take 50MP photos
While the renders reveal a dual rear camera array, specs have not been confirmed. It seems likely that this will at least match the 50MP main sensor and 12MP ultrawide lens found on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but this would be an opportunity for Samsung to save some money if it goes with lesser sensors.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE outlook

The Galaxy Z Flip FE faces a balancing act. On the one hand, Samsung has to deliver a cheaper foldable phone — that's what people have been waiting for. But it also has to do so without stripping back the features that make the phone compelling in the first place.
It sounds like we'll find out if Samsung can strike that balance very shortly, should the Galaxy Z Flip FE debut this week at Unpacked.
