Samsung has teamed with Adblock Fast to allow ad-blockers on its proprietory browser on Android devices. (Adblock Fast)

Samsung in partnership with Adblock Fast has announced a new ad-blocking API for its Android internet browser that’ll be rolling out to all users via an OTA update. The Korean giant will be adding a new ad blocking capabilities to its web browser - Samsung Internet Version 4.0. Currently, Samsung Internet 4.0 is only compatible with Android 5.0, though support for Android 4.0 and above is expected to arrive soon.

By adding support for ad-blockers, the company will allow developers to develop extensions that’ll block ads on Samsung’s web browser on Android which substantially improves website loading speeds. Adblock Fast claims that using ad blockers cuts page load times by upto 51 percent.

Ad-blockers have been widely used on PCs for quite sometime, and now smartphone manufacturers have started integrating ad blockers in their mobile eco-system. Even Apple started using ad-blockers in iOS 9 which have already garnered a lot of attention topping charts on the App Store, as there’s a huge demand for such software among users.

Apart from significant improvements in website loading speeds, use of ad-blockers also bolsters battery performance and allows users to cut down on their data costs.
