Samsung admits it leaked data of 150 users - how to see if you're one of them

From the Galaxy S20 to the Note 10, Samsung smartphones are some of the most popular handheld devices around the world.

But if you have a Samsung smartphone, your personal details may not be as safe as you think they are.

Samsung has admitted to leaking the data of around 150 users due to a ‘technical error.’

Speaking to The Register, a Samsung spokesperson said: “A technical error resulted in a small number of users being able to access the details of another user.

“As soon as we became of aware of the incident, we removed the ability to log in to the store on our website until the issue was fixed.”

While Samsung is yet to reveal any further details about the leak, it confirmed that any users affect will be contacted.

The spokesperson added: "We will be contacting those affected by the issue with further details.”

The data leak appears to be unrelated to a mysterious notification that Samsung accidentally sent to all users last week.

The strange notification appeared to come from Samsung’s Find My Mobile app, and simply said ‘1’.

Samsung confirmed that the notification was sent unintentionally during internal testing.

A Samsung spokesperson told Mirror Online: “Recently, a notification about “Find My Mobile 1” occurred on a limited number of Galaxy devices. This was sent unintentionally during an internal test and there is no effect on your device.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers."
